  1. So-soy you must have still been typing your post while I was responding, so maybe you didn't see my response right above yours. But as I explained, we were stocked up before the sale and thought we had plenty enough... but we sold much more than we could have anticipated. Unfortunately no matter how hard we try, we cannot always predict when we will run out of an item. Sometimes suppliers get wiped out earlier than they thought they would. Naturally we didn't run out on purpose, why would we do that. Obviously in a perfect world we would never want to run out of stock on anything, but nobody is perfect :)

  2. Our office did not know this yet when they emailed that reply, as I hadn't told them yet. But we will be re-running the sale on our EZ Soy from December 10th thru the 16th. We will have only a few pallets coming in (shipping them up from BCS) to hold us over until our truckload arrives, so we can't re-run the sale til the truckload is here. We're sorry we ran out early, naturally we were stocked up before the sale but we could not possibly anticipate getting wiped out of stock so early in the month. Obviously we didn't plan for that to happen. So for those that didn't order early in the month and missed out, we are giving the same sale price at BC North December 10th - 16th. Thanks in advance for your understanding :)

  3. Hi Kelly,

I have not received any email from you... can you try re-sending it to Doneen@candlesupply.com? I'll check and see if the office recieved an email from you tomorrow when they open up. I've just cleaned out my spam folder and didn't see any, but it's always possible that I missed one. Sorry for any inconvenience!

If you can email your questions to me I'll be happy to help as soon as I receive it. Flicker on our live chat tech line does know a lot about B&B and can answer any questions you may have about any of our B&B products as well as candle products. She has been making all types of candles, cp soap, B&B products, etc for many years. She does work remotely from another location, but she is there to help you with our products. This time of year she gets swamped and many times has multiple chat sessions and phone calls at the same time, but she's pretty good about getting back to you if you don't catch her on the first try. If you see this tonight and email me I can get back to you right away as I'll be online most of the night. Just let us know what we can help you with :)

  4. Yup WoodWick is a tradename for a brand made by Old Virginia. Dayna Decker has a patent on that particular type of wick (certain type of wood and certain flat shape) and she licensed them to Old Virginia. I bought one to try and it burned with a huge flame that put off a lot of black smoke. The flame was too big for my comfort, so I extinguished it and trimmed it down, but when I re-lit it the flame got just as big again. It made me a little too nervous with the flame that big in the size glass container it was in, so I put it out and gave up on it. I've tried a few other types of wood just for kicks but haven't found anything yet that worked well. I believe theirs are treated with something. It says on the bottom label "WoodWorks™ Candle, ecoWood™ technology licensed by Lumitique Inc.". I paid $24 for one of the 22oz ones (Sandalwood Clove, smells really good). You can't really hear the crackling unless you sit right close to it. HTH!

  5. You can get a mottled & rustic look with straight pillar paraffin waxes like IGI 1343 or IGI 1239 and about 3 tbsp stearic acid. One way is to pour at a cooler temp than you normally would pour pillars, say around 150-160. If you want even more of a rustic look, try putting your molds in the freezer and get them super cold first, then pour into them. HTH :)

  6. Here is another type of bundt looking mold you could try. I have a couple of these and they are great! It's a tupperware jello mold and has interchangeable tops. No need to worry about filling a hole in the center since it's one solid cavity. I've used it to make a candle and it worked perfect.

I used IGI 1343 wax with brown and black liquid dye, and mixed Hershey's Chocolate, Graham Cracker and a little Hot Cocoa for the cake. I let the wax cool and get lumpy and slushy and then poured it so it would have a more cakey look. Here's a pic of the cake before I decorated it, I love the star shape in the top of the mold:

  7. Hi,

It needs to be non-polar and over 170 flash point to be safe in gel. Here are some instructions on doing a polarity test:

    http://www.gelcandlemaking.com/section4.html

I recommend doing a polarity test on every new batch just to be safe when using fragrance oils that are not specially formulated for gel. Our GelAroma line at BCN is formulated specifically for gel and we test every batch in house just to be safe, but our regular FO's are not tested for gel. HTH!

  8. Just melt a little bit, maybe about the size of a quarter or so in the bottom of a pot. Just enough to dissolve the powdered dye in. This small amount of stearic shouldn't be enough to affect your wax formula noticeably, it just helps make the dye blend better :)

  9. Hi,

I have a couple of possible solutions you could try. Try melting just a small amount of stearic acid and add the powdered dye to that and mix it well, then add it to your wax. The straight stearic helps dissolve the dye. Another thing that works is to add your powdered dye right to your fragrance oil first and mix that up well til it dissolves, then add that to your batch. I love the powders cause they are the most concentrated and they go such a long way. HTH!

  10. Thanks, I appreciate you being so considerate. I think people knew who it was anyway since we had just made a similar mistake on another order that was posted about here... not our lucky week I guess:embarasse! I don't mind owning up to our mistakes though, they happen sometimes. I just felt bad that we goofed on your first order with us! What a way to make a first impression, lol. I'm just relieved that you were so understanding with us. Thanks again :)

  11. Hi M,

Sorry for the confusion & mix up! I had seen this post but I knew that Sue from our office had already caught her own mistake and had emailed you to let you know she had fixed it. But since you said your total still didn't sound right, I printed out the 3 pages of your invoice and saw where the problem is. She didn't adjust the AromaMagic samples to the sale price... I guess she was confused and didn't think those were included in the sale (not sure cause she's not here to ask right now since it's after biz hours). She must have overlooked the comments section by accident when she first entered the order. I know the office was swamped that day because of the sale, and I do apologize for the oversight. They normally do try their best to notice any comments or special instructions and highlight them on the orders. I will email your correct total to you and to our order office so they can fix it. Sorry again for the error and thanks for your understanding :)

  12. Hi Carol,

Don't worry, nobody is trying to rip anyone off :) I saw this post so I logged into our system and checked your invoice and saw that there was a mistake on your invoice. The problem was not the shipping, it was that the office accidentally forgot to mark down the samples on the first page of your invoice to the sale price. So that resulted in your total being $7.55 over what it should have been. The actual UPS shipping was $8.96 on that package, and it was shipped out that same day and will arrive to you on Tuesday 8/1/06. The shopping cart cannot give exact shipping prices as it can only estimate what the weight of the final package will be, and we only charge exact UPS fees, we do not add any padding or processing fees at all. I don't believe the cart adds in all of the UPS fuel surcharges in it's estimates either, and unfortunately for all of us UPS has been fluctuating on that quite frequently :(

Anyway, we'll be happy to fix our mistake of course, and I apologize for the mistake and any inconvenience or upset. Please email me and let me know how you'd like this adjusted. We can either put that amount back on your credit card, or issue an in store credit, whichever you prefer. My email is Doneen@candlesupply.com. Anytime you have a problem with an order or think there may have been a mistake, please don't hesitate to contact our office directly and someone will always look into it and take care of it for you. Have a great weekend :)
