  1. Wow really? Even with the sooting and the large flame with the 62, that’s an indication that I should up my wick?
  2. I heat my wax until 82 celsius and pour at 72 celsius. I’m confident in those temperatures because my finished candles have no physical flaws. I think I’m needing to find the right wick. I’m not testing with FO at this time, just trying to get a good “starting” wick and plan on testing with FO’s later. So far have not gotten a good burn, have tried an HTP 62 and an HTP 41 in my 3 inch tumbler jar. 62 was a sooting torch and 41 did not give me an FMP after two hours.
  3. I’ve been buying my 4630 wax on Ebay because it’s the cheapest retailer I’ve found. Here is the link if you’re interested: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m4084.l1313.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.X46.TRS0&_nkw=4630+wax I’m a little concerned because I’m in the middle of testing wicks with this wax (I’m a chandler newbie, this is the first ever wax I’ve played with) and I haven’t found anything that wicks well with it yet. I heard this was a good newbie wax (easy to work with, great throw), but I’m not getting that. Is it possible my wax may not be true 4630 after all? Or am I just so new that I’m overestimating my ability to wick it quickly?
  4. Do you have a preference? Does one work better for “foodie” scents than the other?
  5. I can only seem to find the CD2 available in tea light size.😕 Do you happen to know where I can find one in a 6 inch size?
  6. I’m triple wicking a four inch tumbler jar with 4630 wax. HTP 41 burned almost perfectly but sooted during a power burn. 😧 HTP 31 looks great but won’t give me an FMP. I’ve heard of people using CD’s where HTP’s fail. Can anyone name a CD wick rec that is both a tad bigger than an HTP 31, and a tad smaller than an HTP 41? I am also open to other wic recs, but zincs and LX’s have not worked for me.
  7. I am thinking it's the wick. I will try the HTP 31s, one size smaller. LX and zinc wicks are a no-go for me, the smallest size of both is too big for my candle. Do you have any experience with RRD wicks? Is there any brand in particular you think I should try?
  8. I am using 3 HTP 41 wicks in a 4 inch tumbler with 4630 wax and the vanilla bomb FO from JustScent. I have success with the burning (full melt pool in about 2 hours) and the flames look good.😍 BUT, when I test a power burn (4 hours+), I get sooting and flickering.😪 Last night I trimmed my wicks to 1/4 inch before burning them for the first time, and I had the candle going for 2 hours. Today I thought I'd test a power burn, but after 4 hours I have the sooting/flickering issue. Is it because I didn't trim the wick between burns? I am conflicted about wick trimming between burns because I know many customers won't do that, and I have never had to trim a Bath and Body works candle (or other big name brand) in my life. What should I do?😩
  9. I need help double wicking a 4 inch tumbler. I have every size CD, HTP, zinc, and LX wick and don't know where to start. I've made one attempt at double wicking so far. I used two 44-24 zinc wicks and that wasn't the right choice. The flames were a little high and they both gave off black smoke. I blew one out thinking well maybe I need just one. That one wick sooted like crazy as well. I am new to double wicking but not new to attempting to wick in general and I thought instead of draining my wick supply testing every possible combo, I thought I'd ask here and see if anyone has any double wicking recs. I am using 4630 wax and the strawberry white cake FO from JustScent. My FO load is 10%.
  10. I am using 1 wick. I forgot to mention that I am using a FO from JustScent and I'm pouring an 8% fragrance load since I read on Flaming Candle that the 4630 can take between 8-10% FO. I read FO info was important for newbies to include in their posts. I would ideally not like to double wick because I prefer the single wick look, but if it's what I need to do, I'll do it. You don't think 1 wick is practical? Yankee's candles are 4 inches wide and they just have 1 wick. But of course I have no idea what wax they're using, etc.

  12. I bought a bunch of these jars from Candlescience. And I cannot for the life of me get them to wick. I'm using a 4630 wax and have tried both HTP and Zinc wicks. I got the sample packs from CS also, so I've tried every size of each. I would try a new wick but I wanted to check in and see if anyone has had luck wicking jars like these with 4630, or any other paraffin wax. My flames have been either too small (tunneling), or too large (flickering, sooting). I heat til 180, pour at 160, and the candles set perfectly, but they burn horribly. Any insight?
