  1. Hi all,

I have been using palm wax for melts, but would like to find a good soy wax to use instead as the palm needs a pretty hot wax melter. Has anyone here used Golden Wax 416 from Lonestar? Good? Just ok? What is your favorite soy for melts?

    Thanks so much!

Not quite. It's all done digitally. I have a picture, for instance, and instead of taking a different picture of every candle with the different labels, I digitally superimpose a different JPEG (or whatever it may be) of a label over top the one in the picture... It would make the label look much easier to read as well, which is what I'm going for... I'm probably not making sense...

  3. I read a post from someone regarding this question - not on this forum - and of course I can't find it, but thought I would see if anyone here had insight as this forum is my go to. :-)

I hope I can explain this well enough:

When taking pics of products, using one really good picture and overlaying different images on that picture is called what? Does it have a name? For example (from what I've seen most of), creating different product pictures to show different candle labels using one picture with different label graphics overlaid on that same picture - so it looks clean and cohesive.

Thanks! Tell me if I'm crazy - maybe it doesn't have a name!

    Dani

  4. I've been playing around with it for the last 6 months or so.  I really, really liked it at first, CT and HT both really good. But now I'm starting to get a little frustrated with the HT being very weak with a few fragrances I LOVE. Wicking doesn't seem so tricky, but of course does really change with the scent. I started out with HTP's and am now trying CD's. I would love to hear anyone else's experience with this wax. HT, CT? Additives?

Been seeing this add everywhere from Yahoo to FB. I'm not buying it. Anyone here who is a fairly good candlemaker can make one for half the price that probably burns way better too. All you really need is a good odor eliminator FO. I used to make them myself an they worked fantastic.

What is the best odor eliminator you've used?  I read a discussion on it months ago and cannot find the thread again!

Welcome MTMade.  Nice you are getting back into your candle making.  It's good you found this forum this time around for advice and answers with you new wax adventure!

My husband is Montana born and raised!   It is such a beautiful BIG SKY COUNTRY ….I enjoy every visit we get to make.

I grew up in Montana as well, and I feel super lucky to be raising my boys here. What part is your husband from?  And actually, I was on this forum way back when, but I must have been purged! (or maybe I just couldn't remember the sign on correctly) Yes, it's been that long...  :-)

Hi, from your neighbor in Idaho! I've been candle making for a bit, and I love the throw from coconut wax.  Wicking has been a challenge.  Onward!  Glad to see another westerner around!

Yes, definitely a challenge! And of course I can't make it easy on myself - I'm experimenting with combining palm embeds and layers with the coconut wax... we'll see... :-)

  8. Hi there! I'm jumping back into candle making after a 12 year break - raising kids takes SO much time!!  :-)  I forgot how much I LOVE candle making, and am excited to start again. My husband and I own a hardwood floor business, which also keeps us busy, but I'm finding time to experiment with coconut wax.  After working almost exclusively with palm, I have to say I love, love the white creamy texture. I am enjoying this forum so much, and appreciate those you like to keep it positive and are so willing to offer advice and encouragement.
