If you've already been testing with C3 and can get it locally I personally would just keep working with it.  Possibly try additives  With additives the fragrance load can be increased to 7-10%.  Cargill has some good info on the wax and how to use it on their website.  I can just tell you from a standpoint of trying many soy waxes, I ended up going with the one I could get close by.  The shipping on wax is just too much anymore.

Can you say what kind of additives in the 464 and how much. If it's a secret I completely understand. Thanks

    Good going Goldie,

I burned mine exact as you same size jar and wax but using a cd3.  Mine looked like yours almost but was a deeper melt pool.   When I got to the 4 hour mark on the first day my whole jar was all liquid and so mad hot I couldn't pickup.  If there wasn't a shoulder on that jar of yours or mine I think both our wicks would have worked.  I have to get smaller wicks (if there are any)......Can't remember who said it here on the forum, but they said a zinc burns cool.  I know nothing about those wicks.  Maybe I could buy a couple from some one here and test...  Only thing I can tell you is keep going and let us know.  At this stage for me though I'm too worried about getting any more jars that size as I sell to shops and I think it could be a disaster for someone.  Oh another thing that happened to me was that being that the jars got so very hot the wicks slid off their tabs and then actually the entire wick and tab lifted and slid to the side of the jar and I couldn't get the wick to stay upright and back into position so that got me worried too.  So for right now, I'm not going to order these small jars but I do have coming today 5oz jars (the italian jars) with the pretty lids.  I can't wait to get them today.  So they are bigger and I feel more confident with succeeding with a wick for this jar.  I'll keep all posted.  Please keep us posted too Goldie!;)

My cousin took his own life so it has been really hard... trying to find a sense of normal again. Ty for asking that was really sweet. Anyway who sells Clarus? I'm not sure I've heard of that wax? Do you know if it's kind of along the same lines as 6006? Didn't glory say that was like 75% 4627 and 35% some soy blend? I haven't tried 6006 yet either but would like SOMETHING to work right so I at least have a base line on how each wick performs lol so zinc wicks worked better in 4627?? Hmmmm

I am so sorry about your cousin. My heart and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Much love your way.

Here are a couple pictures of how I double and triple wick candles.

I would be very careful wicking that Lonestar container as I believe that glass is a thin walled jar and you don't want to get those wicks close to the side walls for the sheer fact of the glass getting hot and cracking.  I would say 1 1/2" away from the sidewalls would be a safe enough distance to prevent a possible cracking of jar.

My interpretation is you have to buy $75 of other things before being able to take advantage of the fragrance sale.

It lets you chose $75 worth if fragrances if that's all you want.

  6. I know. I picked 5 fragrances and a few other things and it lets me enter code and get discount. I'm just not sure I want those scents I picked. The ones I wanted are out of stock too. I haven't hit the complete your order button yet, and probably not.

  7. I noticed candlewic is having a fragrance sale. If you order at least $75.00 worth of 1 lb fragrances you get 20% off your order. Not sure when sale ends. I've never tried any of their fragrances, so I'm a little scared to venture out. I also couldn't find any reviews on any of their products or even where they allow reviews. I always like to read reviews before ordering. But still, I thought it was a good deal for

anyone that does enjoy their fragrances. Their coupon code is March20Scents. Maybe the pic is visible that I loaded, if not, just go to their site and you will see it.

  8. I'm copying and posting what I responded to Katmeltswax because the response refers to several of you. Love you all!!

Thank you for your love and your support. God and friends like you and others in this group are what iss pulling me thru. I sleep with my Bible next to me. My parents are unbelievably unsupportive too. They are building me a candle workshop with counter tops that are wheelchair height. Isn't that amazing????  I went to my actually spine doctor who has given me hope. There is a new surgery fir my condition. He has ordered an mru to see if I am a good candidate fkr the surgery. It will be very brutal and lengthy recovery time, but worth it if it gives me relief. He wouldn't do the surgery. I'd have to go to Augusta Ga. It wouldn't completely cure me but give me significant relief. I have complete faith in this doctor because he has told me in the past to never let anyone cut on my back again and now he is even excited about this possibility. I've been praying for a new updated medical surgery so maybe this is the answer. Thank you for your friendship. After years of crying and complaining of lain you seem to lose what you thought were true friends. Besides one friend that suffers from chronic pain herself, some of you are ALL I have besides family. I know this is suppose to be a candle group, but you guys are the most aamazing online people I have EVER run across, including a couple of thr online chronic pain groups I'm a member of that I dont even go to any more. I love y'all so much. Wish I could meet y'all face to face!!! Avoid typos due to meds as always!!!!

I hope to hear something positive from you soon Pam.....Stay positive ,pray & have faith. I have been thru some very tragic events in my life the past few years & I completely understand your pain. The best advice I can give you right now would be trust in God &have faith in his plan. I live with neck ,back & chronic pain. I also have been thru emotional pain due to the loss of both parents along with my 56 year old brother.` I have found that  the best thing to do is set a goal to achieve with your candle making . Take baby steps towards achieving your goal & this will be the beginning of your success.... Take your time until your physically ready to pour your candles . I know if you keep your mind focused on your dream ,this will definitely help your depression. Take notes on fragrances you would like to pour .The containers you would like to use . Learn as much as you can about wicking etc...  Read about candle making online ,this is a great place to start right here....You will find many crafters with years of experience to assist you with any questions you may have. I know depression is hard to overcome ,just know you can get past it . Stay positive & do as much as possible to take steps towards your goal.  Remember the mind is a terrible thing to waste. I think we have all heard this before ,so true . I hope to hear from you soon & that your getting better. Have faith ,let go ,let God :)

    Your concerned friend ,Kat

  10. I'm not upset that you're in my business at all. It makes me feel good that someone does actually care, and someone that's never met me face to face on top of that. I appreciate that you care. I never take the mobic. Its the only one I'm noncompliant with. Reason why is it is a blood thinner and they tell me not to take it or any other blood thinners 7 days prior to my spinal injections. I get the injections every 4 to 6 weeks and got tired of keeping up with it, plus I think it was causing me bad stomach pains. I've told him I dont take it, but he writes the prescription anyway. All the rest of the meds come from 2 different doctors, my pain management doctor and my primary care physician. EACH have a handwritten list of what the other gives me because I always let the other know. My primary care physician gives me the paxil, cymbalta, klonopin, ambien, and blood pressure medicine. Pain management gives me the rest. I am definitely now wanting a second opinion and started looking for a doctor this morning and then didn't know what kind of physician I should go to for a second opinion. I bet there's not a such thing as one that deals in medicine combinations only is there? lol....there should be.

  11. Sometimes I think all my meds do increase my depression. For my spine condition I'm on morphine, norco, gabapentin, flexeril, mobic, lyrica, and topamax. And pantoprazole for stomach problems and lisinopril for blood pressure and paxil and cymbalta for depression and klonopin for anxiety. Thats a lot of meds for a 49 year old and I've wondered myself if they are creating more problems. They have to be. But I have to have the pain medication. In fact I think if it was stronger that enough would help me, and cut some of the other pain meds out. I also get injections. I've had 3 doctors to tell me to never have my back cut on again if I can avoid it. Its a big mess. I feel if I can just get my depression under contol, it will help cope with the pain and I can move forward. It's worked before, but for some reason I can't kick myself out of this very deep depression. My nephew has started doing better and is visiting a lot, but I still can't shake it this time. I feel so hopeless and so afraid my candle making dreams are going to die because of my depression and that was such a big dream of mine since becoming disabled. Thank you for caring and for listening. Love you.

  12. God bless each of you and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will eventually get there. Much love!  My nephew is doing better but my depression and back and hip pain isn't. All I seem to do lately is lay in bed all day and either cry or sleep. Y'all are such wonderful people. Sorry I turned this into a therapy forum instead of candles, but maybe I'll be back up and going soon. I'm on two antidepressants..paxil and cymbalta, so maybe they will take effect soon. I love each of you!!!

I have a professional wax melter and it has a copper spigot on it. I've had it for over 10 years and its never clogged on me ever and I've used paraffin, soy, parasoy, and palm waxes. Don't know about beeswax as I don't use it for candles. Anyway I think if you find a spigot and you have a choice between one type and a copper one I would go with the copper spigot.

    Are you talking aboug these?

Pam, if I can make a suggestion it would be to order some oils from companies that so many like working with and who have a good reputation.  All companies, I don't care who they are, have hits and misses and god we all know that and of course that all comes from testing.  It can be frustrating when you are first starting out in this wonderful world of candlemaking and you go and order fragrances that you like yourself and want to try and then when you get them in, there is no throw.  That can be very frustrating.  So I would suggest is of course like we all do constantly is keep reading up on the posts of people who use the same wax as what you have and make notes of the ones who have great luck in your wax and advise which ones are great throwers and try some of those oils.  I would start there and see for yourself.  At least you can get an idea of what a great throwing candle is supposed to smell like instead of possibly ordering something that was a dud....You know what I mean?    Candle Science (one of suppliers) in my opinion has quality fragrances and that is a company that I recommend  as you said you were interested in ordering from in your post.  Remember though, now I know you use 464 (I do too). you need to let your candles cure....(that's a very important biggy).  I cure mine for 2 weeks....Aahhh I did test a couple though the other day and it was only a week and I just couldn't stand waiting another week and just had to try it...ha!  It was vbn from WSP and Frasier fir from Candle Science.....were just great too.  If the throw had been light or just not there after I had burned them, all I had to do was let them sit for more time.....You know you could just post here what you had on your list of what you were going to order and see what types of responses you get from others who have tried it too...Ain't this just fun? !!!:)

Wonderful advice that I will certainly take!!! Thank you very much!!

  16. I love to read and study!! I do not own the first candle book. What are some good suggestions to put on my bookshelf in reference to candles. Any good ones please. Whether its soy, paraffin, beeswax, palm wax or all!! I dont care as long as it's good, informative, educational, or even entertaining. Thanks a million!!! :soapbabydance::neenerneener::read:
