You can, but you have to be careful. I add stearic and vybar to my 4794 votive blend. It already has these in them, but I feel they look and burn better with the added additives. One thing you have to be careful with though, is since blended waxes (I'm speaking to paraffin, not soy - I don't work with soy) already have the additives in there, they can bind your wax and then you will get no scent throw at all.

That is exactly what I was wondering!! Thank you so much!!

I have, but really, you don't have too. I have to get a different and desired outcome...

That is good to know. I was wonder if that was ok to do also...add additive to make it look different. Thank you!

  3. For those of you using preblended wax, when it says it has all the additives and a person doesn't need to add any thing like an additive, have you still added additive to it?

  4. You all have been a huge, huge help!!! Asking about the temp fixed my problem. Now my wax is throwing like a champ.

If you are doing this to save money, all you need is an oil warmer and oils. No need for wax. I use a tea light warmer because it keeps the water hot.

I do this with essential oils: put hot water in the reservoir (bowl at the top of the warmer) and add a few drops of EO or FO. The heat of the water will activate the EO or FO and give off the fragrance. The tea light candle will keep it going and eventually burn off all the oil.

Or, you can get some coarse table salt, add FO to the salt (just enough to coat the salt well - not soupy, just wet), and put it in the bowl of the warmer.

There are a few threads in the Wickless category on this.

This is something I will try when I am at home.

I had a chuckle too! $500 later....

:D I can totally see spending more on it as I get more confident. Right now I had every thing to start besides wax and fragrance oils so I was pretty lucky there. Now if I was to buy all those beautiful molds (which I totally see myself doing) I can see how expensive it can get.

  6. Okay! Great! Thank you! I'm going to try again tomorrow night then. I've also read where people say not to add FO's when the wax is too hot or it will burn off the scent and not smell good in the melter...would that be anything above 185 then?

  7. That is the post that led me to this forum! YAY!!! Those are some of the most beautiful chunks! I do have a question, does the heat gun make any of the scent disappear or is it used much to quickly to even worry about that?

  8. I found this site when trying to find help with making tarts and chunks...just for personal use. I figured I could save some money and have a little fun at the same time. It is a learning experience for sure.  I'm also a crazy critter lady, no kids just a husband and pets. I live in AL. I transplanted 8 yrs ago from SD for my job.
