The palm issue is a nasty can of worms. Its not a simple issue for most people. I understand that the natives make money by mowing down jungle and planting palm trees, which destroys not only the homes of wildlife but creates a problem with the ecosystem. You have to look at this from the perspective of how large a footprint does procuring raw materials make on the planet. Certainly drilling for oil makes a huge print but does breathing paraffin fumes pose a greater health risk than breathing soy fumes? Human activity in general, creates problems for the environment and its an honorable thing to respect nature, but gee whizz. Some animal was harmed in the making of any of this stuff, either accidentally or on purpose; so ease up. Whether it comes out of a beaver anus or a downed banana tree, you just can't avoid leaving that human footprint. KWIM?

Cruelty free specifically refers to animal life. Not "drowned banana trees". However, the rest of your passive aggressive post makes sense.

  2. In my experience... the two do not walk hand in hand.

All-natural is an umbrella term and many things can be classified all-natural that some may not expect to be designated as such.  For example, in food, I try to avoid anything that says "all natural flavoring" as the ingredient and not the specific flavoring agent they used. One of the grossest, in my opinion, being Castoreum, aka “natural raspberry flavor” comes from the anal glands of beavers, secreted to mark their territory.

Cruelty free is a very specific term which designates wildlife and animal life were not harmed in any way during the sourcing and manufacturing of the item or product.

  3. I wouldn't consider paraffin wax or petroleum animal-based but I also still wouldn't consider it cruelty free.

"Most of petroleum is plant material more than animal material. For animals to fall into peat etc which later became crude oil was pretty rare, however, most petroleum products are not vegan-friendly due to other ingredients and frivolous animal testing etc."

Daystars black tea is awesome - not overpowering and smells like southern sweet tea to me

You could add some lemon to that

I didn't not know WSP Had a iced tea twist....next order I may need to add that to the cart

I believe Daystar has changed the name of 'Black Tea' to 'Southern Iced Tea' just FYI ;-)

The only one I've tried (and I don't even know why I bought it) is Dirt from WSP. If anyone wants it, it's theirs! It smells just like dirt.  I don't know why anyone would want a dirt scented anything but it had good reviews LOL!

Horticulturalists LOVE this candle. I have many friends that love gardening and they always request this candle from me.

  6. Save On Scents and another supplier, I forget which one right now, will look into it, have a line a wacky scents.

Some of the ones I have tried are:

    Dirt/Potting Soil/Gaia - smells just like potting soil - Fragrance Buddy/WSP
Zucchini/Zucchini Flower - this one is from Brambleberry and it smells just like Zucchini, it's incredible.
Decayed Rainforest - smells like moldy plants. From SaveOnScents.
Rubber - Used to get this from Nature's Garden but they discontinued it. Save On Scents has one but it's not good.
Gasoline (low octave) - smells just like gas
Baby Diaper - don't even want to talk about this one. True to name. from SaveOnScents.
Tar - smells just like fresh tar. - SaveOnScents
Garlic - true to name - SaveOnScents
Permanent Marker - true to name- SaveOnScents
Seasoned Chicken - don't know how they did it but it smells like chicken - SaveOnScents
Exhaust - true to name again - SaveOnScents

AL83, Wellington was the first company I ever ordered from and out of 8 or so bottles of FO I only got one or two to throw for me. Granted, I was new then so it's probably not fair to say that. Do you have good luck with their fragrances? What type of wax do you use? Thanks!

I use a soy/coco blend. Their 'French Lime Blossom', 'Baby Grace by Philosophy', 'Amazing Grace by Philosophy', 'Almond Coconut', 'Tea Leaf & Jasmine', 'Fresh's Sugar Blossom' are very strong throwers for me. I guess I've just had good luck with the scents I choose from them. There is one that I purchased that had a mega weak throw, I think it was a dupe of Versace's "Yellow Diamond"... That one had a horribly weak throw for me.

  8. Candybee,

If you haven't already, I would recommend sniffing the actual perfume Angel by Thierry Mugler to know what it should really smell like. A lot of the fragrance oils I have come across claiming to be Angel simply aren't.

It is my mother-in-law's absolute favorite perfume so I am very aware of this fragrance and would bet my life that Elements' Honey Patchouli is a dupe of it. ;-)

Are you specifically referring to Flaming Candle's 'Wild Mountain Honey' not smelling like Honey L'Occitane or Peak's 'Wild Mountain Honey"?

  9. Fearless is by Victoria's Secret and is a black currant based scent.

Pink Fun may refer to "Oh What Fun is Pink" by Victoria's Secret as well. This scent is amber and floral based.

I have not come across dupes of these scents however, there are many wonderful black currant fragrance oils out there that I can recommend if you'd like.

Black Currant Rose by Sweet Cakes is probably my favorite.

  10. I believe I only use two fragrances from Indigo consistently. (Sunset and Angel)

I think they may have they same supplier or compounder for oils as other companies out there as they added an "Opium" duplication scent to their stock last month and then a week or so later, Aztec introduced an "Opium" fragrance oil as well. So I think it may just be a case of same supplier because Indigo is actually cheaper than NG and it would be very cost ineffective to business to rebottle fragrances at a cheaper price.
