  1. This is one of the best things I learned here as a newbie. You just pour your container w/o a wick, when it's all set up, poke a hole in the middle with a skewer (or like object), and put a wick in (w/o a tab, of course!). Then, when you need to change the wick, you just yank the old wick out, stick a new one in, heat gun the top a bit, and voila- re-wicked container!

  2. This thread (http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10760) may give you a starting point to choose types of wicks to purchase. Definitely purchase a sampler pack of the types you choose- this will allow you to try different sizes of the wick type (which is what the number represents) to determine which wick is appropriate for your application. Most of the reputable suppliers offer wick sample packs.

You can also do a search on the board for the type of wax that you decide to use, and see what types of wicks work for others to give you another starting point. I believe that Peak's has a great description of each wick type that they carry and the applications for that type, as do most other suppliers.

  3. Look at the "Basic Instructions" section to the left... will give you step-by-step instructions for pillars, container and votives. The "numbers" of the wax you are using idetify they type of wax and the manufacturer, which is important because each type of wax behaves in different ways. Very helpful when you ask questions and ask for advice based upon what you have done and the result you have achieved.

  4. You probably have what are called "jump lines". If I pour into a cold container, I get these too. Try heating up your jars before pouring and see if that helps!

Precisely, especially now that I can see the photo. Was the glass cool when you were pouring? Did you pour slowly into the container? Either of those things can cause the jump lines... You can warm the jars in the oven at the lowest setting while your wax is melting. when your wax gets to the correct pour temp, your jars will be nice and warm to pour into! Great first try!!!!!

  5. BCN Blueberry Cobbler kicks butt! I love this one- very strong thrower in my J223/ecosoya cb 135 blend, both hot and cold. Very true scent, even DH knew what it was and could smell this one. he always says that he can't smell my candles, lol.
