HenryK
soy wax may be plant-based - but its not natural in the state we use it to make candles
You are absolutely correct. Thanks for letting these soy gals know the truth. Good research.

Does anyone know where I can get these? My distributor wants me to make some and I cant find who carries these kinds of molds. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
What exactly are you making? LOL
-
LOL! I've done that myself.
Ok, how come I can't add a ticker?

Here's a special request I got. I don't care for the color combo myself but it's what the customer wanted Scented in Jolly Rancher which I love
I had to make a purple and black scented lemon pound cake for someone. I couldn't stand to look at it, they should be the right color.

That's not fugly at all. I have seen some fugly's and that's not one of them.

Last night I was looking at some of my old test candles (pillars) and I wondered what other people who do vegatable wax pillars look like. I felt like I learn a lot from looking at how they burned and the transitions between the different wick sizes. I have only used store bought parrafin pillars before making my own pillars, so I don't have anything to compare mine to. I know it is really pretty to put up pictures of our new candles, but would it be too weird to put up pictures of the ones we like how they burned? I think it would be really informative and helpful. Please let me know what you guys think.
By all means, I like to see candles that burn properly.

OOPS Eugenia you are so funny

Very nice display. Mine are thrown all over the basement, LOL
-
Very nice! You sure are creative.

Dat is right, good advice. Most customers probably wouldn't even notice, LOL
But since we want to be satisfied with our work, I would use 2 wicks also.

I was wondering if using a presto kettle pot, do you melt the wax in it directly then go to the pouring pot or put the pour pot into the presto? Or if you have the right accessories go from presto to mold? Thank You
You can melt wax, add dye and FO in the presto and pour into your pour pot straight into the mold. To clean to presto, simply wipe with paper towel. I try to eliminate as many steps as possible to be more productive and save time.
IMO

OMG, candle making 101, you need to start over and find somewhere else to make candles. The prestos are only $20.00

A friend of mine gave me a candle warmer a while ago and I tried it out but found that the throw wasn't nearly as strong as when I burn a candle. I just wasn't impressed with the throw and it was one of my candles. I have heard another soy candle person say the same thing. any idea why? The scent was French Vanilla. It should have been very strong. I had burned the candle for a few days and then remembered the warmer. The scent throw burning was great.
Could be the wattage isn't high enough on your burner. I have found they work best at 21 watts

Beautiful!! Bet it smells great!

Where do you order the CD wicks everyone talks about. I haven't seen them on Peak's website. I ordered J223 and some zinc wicks, but now I'm starting to worry that I'm not going to get the hot throw I was hoping for. I'm making my first candle with my new stuff tonight...wish me luck
If you order them, be careful to always buy them at the same place. For some odd reason, the sizes are different from the different suppliers. I get mine from BCN.

How do you rate Fragrance Oils from the following suppliers?
Cajun Candle Factory.........
Bittercreek........
Lone Star........
Longwyck....
Peak........
Taylored Concepts......
The Candlemakers Store.....
Wick your Wax......
Are they concentrated? Thus eliminating the need to us as much in order to knock your socs off.
BCN can be hit or miss, spiced cranberry is fantastic, pie crust, strawberry jam, caramel apple, blueberry muffins, deep fried ice cream, all very good. I don't order from any of the others too much.

Is Frangelico Streusel a coffee or is it a bagel, muffin, dessert something or another? TIA Portia
Natures Garden has it.

Beautiful colors E, cut that darn wick, would you? LOL
-
I have made them, people don't burn them, they use them for decoration
-
No it doesn't. You can put container wax in those also, and burn right in it.
