  1. :yay: I finally got my first wholesale account. I say finally like I've gone out on hundreds of sales meetings, lol. It was my first stab at getting an account and they ordered $400 on the spot! It may not be much to some of the more experienced wholesalers out there, but it made my week! Now, how to get the second one lol.
  2. I'm in training (almost there!), but you'll get a lot more info from:

http://www.uspto.gov/web/trademarks/workflow/start.htm . You can search all trademarks there to make sure you are safe on your name, and it gives you the info you need.

I searched the USPTO site and it showed that my name was dead/abandoned, but as I was reading through the application, it says that it is referred to an attorney who does additional searches - I was just curious as to what those additional searches are and if there was any way I could do them myself...just to be double sure before I pay all this money.

  3. I bought oil burners from them - I got the stuff fast and I had a question on another product. I called after hours and left a vm and I had a message on my answering machine the next day from them. They were very polite - no complaints here. Everything came boxed individually, nicely packaged.

  4. OMGosh, I was just searching CT and found this post. I went to the site listed above and it gives out everything address and phone number :shocked2: how scarey!!

This was very interesting - Zaba had me listed, but instead of my phone number and addres, it had my MIL's phone number and addy - and I've never lived there! I guess I'm safe, lol (for now)

  5. Or you can always have one naked out out for people to smell and pet or do whatever they want to do with it, but if they buy, they get a fresh wrapped one....that way the smell can still draw them in, but they'll still get to buy a virgin one, lol.

  6. From what I understand, they figure it manually now that they have a new shopping cart. You might want to remind them that you qualify for the discount in the comments section, just to make sure it doesn't get overlooked.

I just ordered from them and put a note in the comments section - I couldn't remember what the discount was either, lol. But my fine friends at Peak took 10% of my FO order for me :yay: (there was a little message when I got my package/receipt)

  7. I have been using the clear 1.8 x 1.8'' labels from labels by the sheet to label my 1 oz body sprays, but the edges of my label keep coming un-stuck. I ordered some different size shrink bands to play around with, but has anyone else had this happen? I'm trying to think of different things I could use to keep those suckers on there good and tight. Any ideas?

  8. I've only tried it once, and it turned rock hard - I don't have the recipie I used in front of me, so I can't give exact amts or percentages, but it was horrible. I might try to modify the recipie and try again someday, but it's on the back burner for now.

  9. WOW, That is a big fair. Lots of hours. I hope you have lots of help. I have been to it a few years ago but never sold at it. I have done the Portland Fair quite a few years ago and it was so much work. I decided it was to demanding and too much pressure so I never did it again. If you are going to do it take as much as you possiable can. You can never have too much at a fair like that. Good Luck with it. Maybe I will stop by this year and say hi.

I would love for you to stop by! I'll be the crazed one, lol.

Last year I did my first fair that was sponsored by the Rotary club and I had a TON of candles - I made way too many, and it was exhausting setting up and tearing down. I just didn't want to kill myself making too much stuff again this time. I do have a lot already made though, so I'm a little ahead of the game. I just have to make some more summer/fall scents.

The fair runs Thursday-Sunday and I've already taken the first step by requesting that Thursday and Friday off from work....maybe I should have taken Monday too, lol. Oy vey! I'm nervous, but I think I'd regret not doing it if I talked myself out of it.

  10. Has anyone ever been to or done the Wappinger Fair in Connecticut? I was looking at the site - it's a 4 day event and last year they had 30,000 people over the 4 days. I am pretty sure I am going to do it, but I have no idea how much stuff to bring with me

    Any tips?

  11. I do MP and when I add extra butters, oils, etc, I use a natural preservative like Vitamin E (which isn't really a preservative, but will give your soap a longer shelf life). I think you can also add Grapeseed Oil or Citric Acid as well...I have a book at home that lists some natural preservatives, so I will double check when I get home tonight.

  12. There are more jewelry folks here

That's exactly what I was going to say! I've only done one show and out of about 100 crafters or so, there was only one other candle person. I go to a ton of craft shows with my mom and grandma just to scope them out and see which ones I want to do, and I see maybe one or two candle people at the most....but about 70% of the crafters seem to be jewelry!
