  1. Are you using the same mold? It is totally a pain...and I guess it shouldn't matter that much....I doubt people are going to burn them...but ya never know. I just want it as best as I can get it...within time and cost constraints :) But they are going to smell soooo good even if they don't get a perfect burn! I got baby Magic from justscents...it is AWESOME. I think I like it more than a generic baby powder scent. :)

  2. OK, I bought a new silicone mold that is of a baby block....and it is being a b**ch to wick....I'm stuck between making it hard enough to take a wick and getting good impression in the mold. The block itself is 1.25 inches square. If I use my hard wax (4045), I get a rustic finish and LOTS of pin holes and not a good impression. If I use a softer wax (J50 mixed w/ 4045)...It comes out better....but it still can get rustic....so I've tried heating the mold and it seems a bit better...but of course the wicking gets even harder. My last try was 1/3 J50, 2/3 4045 and 2 tbs. steric per lb. The wicks I've been trying (lx10 and a zinc I've been using for tealights) blew out in about 20 minutes. :(

I'm just looking for something that will work...it is for my sister's baby shower which is in two weeks.... And, I've spent soooo much $$ already that I need to use what I have! Any thoughts for me? I have steric...so I could add some. Is there a max per pound?

    Thanks :)

  3. Yeah, mine doesn't bring any sales either. The only marketing I've done is adding it to google, yahoo and a few other search engines. But, I hope to start a marketing plan at some of the new craft shows I go to that will give them a discount if they place their next order on the web.

People should not think "build it and they will come" .... it soooo doesn't work that way. There are so many places out there with candles, aromatherapy, soaps, etc....that I think search engines are currently cluttered....and it will take some work to get away from the pack! :)

I REALLY hope to see some ideas for marketing out there from other members. I need some ideas :) I can do marketing for others, but when it comes to me and my business, I completely fall short. So....please help! :)

  4. I have mine in cello wrap and I tie it with a twist tie and I wrap it with raffia with my tag hanging off. That way the scent stays in and the label doesn't get oil on it or anything. Then, I poke some holes in the top of it so that you can smell it through the bag (because otherwise you can't really smell them too well through the bag). I do my votives the same.

  5. I sell mine individually -- $1.50 each or 4/$5. I also sell the votive holders (some plain, some decorated). At this last show I think I sold a set and a few individually.....and some w/ a glass holder. Mind you, this show sucked, so this was my 3rd most popular item. And yep, I think people like them because they are small.

and OMG they are a PAIN IN THE ASS to wrap!!! :)

  6. Thanks for all your comments! I kinda had an idea when I got there how I wanted it set up, but it all came together on the fly.

It is nice and colorful, good job! I can see why the clamshells would attract interest, probably everyone wanted to see what was hanging and you could grab 'em and give them the spiel. Glad you made some spending money

Yep, yep yep, that's what it was. They were very curious. I kind of let a bunch of them figure it out for themselves.....I had some open in front and some cubes in the warmer, plus little handouts about them....so most people figured them out. Some people already owned some clamshells and others had no idea what they were, so that's where I came in :)

The one thing I do wish is that the hanging display had another row....it is way too sparse the way it is (IMO).

So bright & chipper :D I LOVE that blue candle - second shelf on the left  Beautiful blue :D

That one is clean cotton! Thanks!

  7. Its a mix of peppermint, ginger fig and pomegranate. Smells AWESOME!!!! If someone can come up with an interesting name, I will send them a bar:D

Hmmmm things that come to mind are:

    Tropical Sunshine

    Hawaiian Sunshine

    Tropical Morning

    Invigorating Citrus

    Fruit Awakening

I just think Peppermint is very invigorating and the other scents are very tropical-like. Can ya TELL I want a bar?? :) I need a wake-me-up soap!

  8. The only place that comes to mind is Oddity....have you seen their stuff? I don't know how their prices compare to others, but I think they have some nice stuff.

I personally look at the dollar store and other discount places. Also, I have found some inexpensive ones at Pier One -- get coasters -- they fit the 3" pillars perfectly :)
