  1. If I'm able to make a good plan (that works) and I can control my "urges" the period between January/February and June/July is what I shoot for to stock up on staples like wax and jars. JMO/HTH

    Maybe a supplier or two will jump in here and offer an insight of their sales strategy for the slower sales "off-months" for us.

    Great tip - thanks, Dave!

  2. Yankee extrudes the fragranced/colored mottling wax into beads that are machine filled around the wicked container. The containers pass through a warming area that melts the wax. I have made swirled candles with my parasoy but it was a real pain and not worth the effort IMHO. Using a paraffin wax would be the way to go and have some patience until you get the temp part of it down. Hand-crafted items shouldn't look machine made, it kinda defeats the purpose but in the end its all about how well the candle does its job. KWIM?

    That's great to know, thanks for the info Steve. They do look super pretty but knowing the process makes it a pain for me to even try! Lol

  3. The BHG ones, IMO, have excellent HT. I've had mine last 6-8 hours on average, with super strong throw. After that, the scent dissipates rapidly.

    Has anyone noticed a sort of chemical smell off the melts? They smell very synthetic to me.

  4. What other scent categories do you have?

    Toasteds are popular as are Noels and Zucchini Breads.

    My preference for testing is to cut melts in half and toss 2 or more together in a warmer. Helps stretch how many FO's I need to keep.

    That's a great idea w/the half melts for testing.

  5. Hi everyone, where do you get your labels for clamshells? I'm making some to give away for the holidays (hoping I'll get a good formula down in the next couple of weeks :tongue2:) and want to do a cute label that I can customize. Thanks :o

  6. Thank you everyone for your replies. I feel a little bit better, I was definitely using the wrong wicks bc they would drown out and I'd fish them out, start over again, and get frustrated. *waves fist at candle*

    @Vernie - thanks for the tip, I will try it again at that temp with my new wood wicks.

    @Node - good luck! I hope it goes well :)

    @marcuset - thanks for the wishes :)

    @jbrooks - I agree, the wicking is a PITA

    @chuck - thank you SO much for the breakdown! I'll take a look at the Clarus and wick recs :)
