  1. Copyright, that's what I meant. Do you know how much it would cost to copyright my Logo for example?
  2. I have been looking into trademarking the name of the candle line I want to make. The name is not taken, so that's good! It's about $300. My question is, is it possible to also trademark the label design, font, etc, along with the name? Has anyone here done that, and if it's possible, how much does it cost? Thanks in advance.
  3. Hello all, so I am just starting to get into candle making and have a question about labels. For the people who get their labels done by a printing company, how exactly does that work? Thing is, I have the font that I want to use on my computer. I downloaded it, and got permission from the font owner. How would that work exactly? Does the printing company give me a template and I make them on my computer and they print it? Or if not, how can I get the font that I want to them? Any info would be a great help, thanks so much! Sorry for my ignorance. :undecided
  4. Hmm yeah, a couple dozen from china is probably not a good idea. Ok everyone thanks for your help, I will keep researching, maybe I can find tins locally, I may just have to change to round, square is a hassle for what I want.
  5. Yes, the square ones do come seamless. Thank you for that site, but I had already been on it and they don't have square tins without the window.
  6. So apart from getting the tins from China, can anyone tell me if this is a good amount to start with? Thanks!
  7. The freight takes about 20-30 days. I was thinking of going to 1000 at once, but didn't know if this would be too much starting off. I do plan to get a website set up. A lot of manufacturers are willing to negotiate on the amount, you just have to ask. That minimum shipping quantity is what they desire, but if you ask, many are willing to negotiate.
  8. Hello, I am new to candle making and am starting to research where I can purchase tin containers from. I haven't been able to find square tin containers without the window lid in the US and am currently in talks with a manufacturer in china who is willing to negotiate on the amount I need. I had told this person 300 to start. Does this seem like a good amount to start off? Is it too little, too much, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  9. Im sorry I can't really help you as I am new to candle making, but one thing caught my attention. You said soy is less expensive than paraffin. I am perplexed because I thought paraffin is less expensive....
  10. This is great info! Thank you so much for sharing. Good to hear that the label minimum is not per scent! Soo much to think about. I would like to sell 6 or 8 oz tins to begin, so hopefully the printer will be good enough. Once I start selling out jeje, I can look into getting them professionally done, as I do have my eyes set on embossed labeling, and those you can't do at home!
  11. Decisions decisions! lol You seem to really know what you are talking about! Thank you for all the info you have provided. Never even thought about the minimums you mentioned with having labels for different scents. That makes a lot of sense! Also thank you for the advice on the printer, I will def. take it into consideration when shopping for a printer. I love this forum!
  12. This is great info, thank you! I guess I will have to invest in a printer as I don't currently have one. I think in the long run it is cheaper to print out your own labels, though from years ago, what I remember when I did have a printer is that ink is very expensive! So sometimes I think it's really not all that cheaper. Not sure though, will have to do some more investigating with prices I guess.
  13. That's what I was thinking too! It seems the most logical, as sugar crystals will melt. Some of them just seemed very big, so wasn't sure. I don't think they are crushed real crystals. Fire hazard! lol
  14. Hello everyone! I am new to candle making and wanted to add something 'extra' to some of my candles. I saw these candles online and thought they were very cute and wanted to do something similar. Anyone know what those rock crystal things on top may be?
  15. Hello everyone! I have been silently reading this awesome forum for a couple of weeks now and have decided to come out of hiding. I must say I am a newbie, but I have been reading reading reading for a while on candle making. I just have a quick question on labels. Apart from the candle quality, which of course has to be great, I believe a HUGE factor that goes into selling a candle, especially online is the packaging. I know that I want to sell tin candles with the wrap around label. Anyone else out there sell these type of candles and do you make your own labels or do you buy them from a printing company? I have a very specific idea in mind and know what I want my label to look like. I would like it to be embossed. Will this be too expensive? Any thoughts and ideas on the wrap around labels will be greatly appreciated! :embarasse
