  1. You would use .125 oz for 2 oz of wax. To make it easier in the future you can take .0625 (the percentage of wax you use per pound in decimal form) and multiply it by the ounces of wax you plan to use.
  2. Does candlescience usually have random sales? I signed up for the newsletter and havn't seen anything, but I have gotten a few things from peak and candlewic. Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this, but this seemed like the best place. Thanks for any help!
  3. Thank you everyone, I will use these and pour directly into them, and get the flower pot containers to put my other in. Thank you very much
  4. I got a candle kit a while ago and just made my first votives using the 17 hour plastic votive mold. I ordered holders from ebay for 50 cents a piece rather than buying them $1 a piece from a wax supplier. The only problem is that they do not fit! They do not go all the way to the bottom so they stick out about a half inch. Is this simply the holders I bought or will the 17 hour mold not fit into a 2"x 2 1/2" votive container from anywhere? I can't get a link to work, but they are "Set of 72 Glass Votive Candle Holders. Crystal Clear." Also since I am using ecosoya PB would there be any problem with me pouring straight into these so they fit perfectly? Thanks for any help
  5. Try the candlescience wick guide, it can at least give you a good start point. I'm using ecosoya pb as well but for votives, just burned my first candle last night. Also look at peak and candlewic and they both have a few charts on wicks to go with waxes and sizes
  6. I think you should find a local candle maker. I think it would be doable, if you find a wax you can pour at a decently low temperature, though it may not mix 100%, and find a low shrinking wax. The person can find the right wick, wax, container/mold etc and set everything up and melt the wax and maybe even hand you the wax at your wedding, along with teaching you everything beforehand so you both know what you are doing. I don't think you would be able to light it right away, but if you're not worried about it curing for scent or anything you may be able to burn it if you have some type of thing afterwards, or you could make an identical candle beforehand and burn that one. You could also do a sand candle and burn it I'm new at candle making, so I'm not positive about it, but I'm sure someone on here could figure it out, they do amazing things
  7. I have searched and searched but other than the FOs for soy sticky have not found anyone giving specific Sweetcakes scents that throw in soy. The ones listed in the sticky are stress relief and Breeze but it has been three years since it was updated. I see people talking about how great their scents are so any help is appreciated
  8. 14 to 2 would make a 7:1 ratio, so you would need 7.1 pounds of the lesser wax to go with 50 pounds. If you decide you want to do more (or less) find the total and divide by 8, this gives you the smaller amount, then you can multiply by 7 for the larger. Or if you know the large amount you want to use divide it by 7
  9. I got Ecosoya PB wax from candlewic a few months ago, without realizing wicks make a huge difference! I got zinc wicks, and recently made a few votives and floaters. I have not been able to test it yet since my holders are coming in sometime in the next few days. I have been looking around on this site and found the list of wicks that work with soy. Out of the people using the same wax I decided to look into HTP and LX wicks on peak, which is where my next order will hopefully be from. I am using light colors and all my scents will be from Peak for now. My votives are 1 3/4" at the top so from the description I thought LX-12 would be good since it is for 2-2.5 inches but says to wick up for soy and HTP-41 since it says for votives and small containers 1.5-2 inches. I am hoping I get super lucky and my first try works since someone said they use zinc, but I want to start asking questions early just in case. Thanks in advance for any help!
  10. I have seen that too, but I have noticed that many recommendations are for around 6% while it will hold a max of 12%. I was confused about it too until I reread everything. For ecosoya PB most recommendations are close to 6% from what I have seen, but I am also a newbie.
  11. Yes they are true Swarovskis, just much cheaper. I have ordered hundreds maybe thousands of the crystals from them. Just be sure to evaluate the crystals before using, some may have small cracks from rough shipping, but they have no problem replacing them for free, no shipping costs either. I used the 6 mm for jewelry, you probably got the 2 or 3 mm I'm guessing. I think 4-6 would show up better and anything bigger may be too big. I would also look at shapes and different effects. I used the xillion (sp?) bicone 6 mm but they have holes, but there are tones of shapes. Be sure to have a ruler handy or look at sizes locally. Also if you want even cheaper they have glass, I got glass from a friend and when you hold them next to each other you can really tell the difference. Also be sure to look into their discounts, as you buy more it gets cheaper for everything but Swarovski, and they have fully made jewelry for pretty cheap The where they sell part, do you mean what store? It's firemountaingems.com, hopefully that answered your question. Also for different candles you could look up their gemstones like agate, some are pretty cheap and you could use them to match candles I'm new to candles or else half my stuff for jewelry would be in my candles lol
  12. If you havn't found a cheap source for swarovski yet firemountaingems is the cheapest and they guarantee it. I make jewelry and have never found any cheaper, plus $5 shipping also for the name you could try finding older candle brands and get inspiration from those.
