  1. Thanks RJ, I will try more of the soy blends and see what I can come up with. If I have good luck with something I will post it and maybe it will help someone else who is having the same problem.
  2. RJDaines: What parasoy blend are you using, are you satisfied with the HT, also do you notice much soot? I decided to try Acusoy#30 and it smoked like a chimney. Thanks
  3. Thanks to all of you for the advice, sorry you had to listen to me whine; but at least I feel better now having griped a bit and maybe I will do what Beth said and try a new jar. About an hour ago I lit a new candle made with banana nut bread FO, the HT is good, the best HT I've made so far. I think maybe I should concentrate only on the very strongest FOs and forget trying to make the others work. If any of you know of super strong FOs that will work in soy, please let me know. Thanks for your help, I appreciate you.
  4. Using a 12 inch status jar, I have tried GW464, C3, CB advanced, CB135 and tried blending the soy waxes, but get no acceptable HT even after weeks of curing. I have tried echo8, CD 12,14,16 wicks. Grudgingly I decided maybe some paraffin blend would help with HT so used Accusoy#30 and it did help some but was major soot city even wicked down to Echo8. I really want to use soy but cannot sell candles with no HT. I would not want to buy them even tho they look perfect. Help!
  5. I have been looking for some way to get hot throw in my soy candles and wondered if essential oils would improve the fragrance, but really, who came up with this recipe of 12 oz oil to 1 oz bees wax, that is just crazy, I can't believe they are serious, major fireball!
  6. So nicely done, beautiful detail. I made and sold terrariums all last year and enjoyed being creative. This year I want to do candles and soap. Are you planning to sell them?
  7. To JustJasen, G464 was the first wax I used but the tops looked terrible, like the surface of the moon, and I don't think even a heat gun could have fixed them. Are you happy about the way your candle tops look?
  8. I'm not familiar with comfort wax 4627 but I will check it out. The wet spots I have been getting with CB Advanced are huge and ugly. I have heard other posts that say to just ignore them, but I wouldn't want to buy a candle that looked like that. I have tried heating the jars but the spots show up days later, so I don't see that heating is helpful. Guess it's time to experiment with other waxes. The only other wax I have used is GW464, that was a disaster, the candle tops looked like 5 miles of bad road! I am determined to get this right, as I love making candles and hope to sell them at some point in the future. Thanks everyone.
  9. Thanks guys for your replies, I will try heating my containers and see if that helps. I appreciate your advice. Sylvia
  10. I am a newbie and have not posted before, but have been absorbing all the good info from your posts. I have been making and testing candles using Ecosoya CB Advanced. I am getting quite a few candles with wet spots, some all the way around the top or bottom of the jar. What do you do with candles that have wet spots, do you try to sell them, do you put them in the reject pile? How do customers feel about wet spots. I'm really having a problem with this. Would appreciate your input.
