  1. Depending on how large the show is & the popularity of it - I just moved, but in CA, there were very large shows that had a high attendance rate. They would sell out of vendor slots about 8 months in advance. If it was a show like that, I'd sign up for it as soon as they would allow.

  2. Angela, I'm curious as to how you found out what the moving truck did not allow? Because when I moved from one state to another, and rented a u-haul truck to do it with, they never asked what things I was transporting, nor did they give me a list of what is not allowed.

It lists on their website what cannot be shipped on the trailer, and fuels/oils and candles is included.

I have an account with Fedex and DHL. I do 90% of my shipping now because they charge us less than Fedex. But either way, they both asked when I opened my accounts what I am shipping and we said fragance oils, sprays and candles and they never said anything about it so I don't know what Fedex wants from you or why.

Just some food for thought. Maybe every state is different.

Just curious, how are you getting to the new location.

Also, if a customer wanted candles and such from you, how would you ship them?

I'm shipping my belongings through ABF U-pack & shipping my car through another carrier. Once an account is opened, I wouldn't think they'd be asking what you're shipping, but since I don't have an account with either of those companies, I will have to list the contents of the package when I go to ship it. Just wondering if anybody had run into problems doing that. If I had to ship candles to a customer, I'd probably use USPS, unless it was a wholesale account and would have to think of who to use when that time came.

I know I can easily just load the boxes onto the truck and look the other way, but I'm one of those people that freak out about these kinds of things & wonder "what if." If it stated that I'm not supposed to ship it, I'm assuming it's for a reason, and I don't like to ignore their rules. I'm sure I'd have to sign something before they take my things that I have read and understood their rules.

  3. I am getting ready to move across country, and trying to figure out how to get my FO's & candles there since the moving truck will not allow it. From USPS, Fed-Ex and UPS, this is the information I found:

    FO's

USPS will ship, the FP had to be, I believe, above 140, but after talking to them, the correct way to send it is it should be packaged separately. Meaning, 1 FO bottle per package. I know many of you ship through them, with several FO's in a package, I just don't like to knowingly to things the wrong way....

Fed-Ex ships them, but you have to call their customer service number and get certified to ship items.

UPS will ship, and it doesn't seem like they have a minimum FP requirement. I called them and they are not aware that it has to be a minimum flashpoint in order to ship Ground. Because of the information I have received, I would feel better shipping through UPS.

I know suppliers use UPS all the time. Does anybody have any information regarding shipping through them?

    Candles

I wanted to ship through Fed-Ex because they are cheaper than the other 2. I do not have an account with them, so I would need to fill out an airbill where I have to fill out the description of items. Has anybody had any problems when they put "candles?"

Thanks for any help you can give.

  4. If you're gonna do a repour, you should pour like you do votives (if you do them). So when you repour, it should be just a tad bit above your original pour. You might also try adding a one-pour container wax to the Genwax you're using....might help with the need for a repour.

  5. It looks like a nice jar. If I am understanding this correctly, you are looking for a lower cost jar to fit the new area, right?

I'm trying to lower my costs whichever way I can, because I don't think my prices would fly in the new area. I am trying to change both my wax & jar so I could significantly lower my prices if possible. Candlescience would be about a 2 hour drive from where I would be living, so I'm trying to use them as my supplier for wax & jars since I would be driving there & picking them up. I LOVE the wax I use, but they are only on the west coast & it would cost me about $100/case to continue using that wax. :sad2:

  6. I already calculated the shipping from Swan's - it would go up about $15. That means I'd be paying about $100 for a case shipped to me. I pay a lot as it is, and did not want to go up in price - if anything, I need to try to lower it.

I thought about trying Greenleaf. I wanted to wait a little bit to see if she's able to set up a shipping point for this wax out of NJ. I think that would help on the shipping.

Ugh, if only Candlescience carried a great blend then everything would work out great. :sad2:

Peppermint, I RRD's work the best for me in this wax.

  7. I currently use Calwax CB-30 & am extremely pleased with it. However, since I will be moving to NC, shipping would be outrageous. I called Calwax and there are no distributors on the east coast, only in WA. So I'm stuck with deciding on paying the shipping for this wax or choosing another wax (I've already switched once before & it sucks!). I did not want to have to pay shipping because it will drive my prices up more, and I'll be moving to a lower-income state. I was hoping Candlescience carried a blend since I would be able to pick it up, but I wanted to stick with a paraffin/soy blend, which I don't see that they have. Does anybody know of a wax comparable to the CB-30, with a supplier on the east coast? Ugh, I'm really not looking forward to this :angry2: . Thanks for your help!
