Would you happen to want to get rid of any of your Berts or KY? If so, message me!
The KY ones I already used up, Berts are gone too.. Sorry

Right!! That's what I was thinking too but just wanted to make sure. I found a Mr. Missys FO like how long ago was that?? lol..

Getting back into making candles again.. Finally cleaning up my hoard of FO's. I have Fragrance oils from 15 years ago, that Im not going to use they didnt smell good then and definitely dont now..
Although I have come across full bottles of Berts, MW, KY, BW FO's that still smell great.. So could I just use them up, while finding dupes of them??

Im guessing they would be but I just read the recent reviews of Joy Wax.. Kinda nervous since a few years back I had a case of Pillar of Bliss that wouldnt work.

Ohhhh I need to move lol.... Western PA is jam packed with Direct Sales such as Scentsy, pink zebra, etc... I understand they are working their business but I gotta work mine too.. It shouldn't be called a craft show, instead a Direct Sales show. I know a lot of people will be disappointed with shows just full of them instead of actual crafts. I have been thinking of adding onto my line, maybe I should so next summer I'll have something else to offer..

Love the scent but it was a dud sales wise. I've tried renaming it and I gave samples out.. Still nobody liked it as much as me.

I've been wanting to get back into craftshows BUT I can't because they are over run with Direct Sales businesses. I keep getting told they only allow 2 of the same types of businesses. I honestly don't see how I fit in the same category, lol... Kidding, I understand a candle is a candle to them. Just wondering if this is only happening where I live in PA or if it's all over the place?

Hmmm maybe I can talk her into tarts instead of a candle ha... Thanks for the reminder to wick up.

Oh sorry! I thought you were making incense! Sorry I cannot give a recommendation on any Amber because everyone I have tried I did not care for!
It's all good, I myself don't like Amber so I'm just lost on that scent lol...

I'll check CS thanks OldGlory, no just make candles. I did tell her that it wouldn't be the same as incense.
I did check my usual suppliers but figured this is a candle board so why not ask. Why google when you have a wealth of information here at your finger tips and others who might use the same scent.

I have a customer asking for an Amber Incense scent. Could someone point me in the right direction?
TIA

As long as you can stay competitive in the market while adding 10-20% go for it.

Awesome I'll check it out. Thanks

Do you have a blog? What kind of content do you write about? Is it just to promote your business or do write other stuff? I'm just trying to get an idea..

Thank you everyone! I have to believe that this isn't an intentional thing on the part of the vendor. But perhaps they need better quality control!
On a related note, is it the wax alone that determines the max FO load? Or does the type of FO come into play as well? For instance, let's say the max load for a wax is 10%. Is is possible that one FO will do fine at 10%, while another will seep at 10%? I know some FOs are heavier than others; is that something to consider when deciding what percentage to use?
Actually both, this person could be using a lot more FO than the wax called for or the FO wasn't mixed well. In my experience Vanilla FO's will seep out of the wax in some waxes if not stirred enough, if it exceeded the amount of FO that the wax called for, if the temp of the wax was to hot when pouring the FO in or vice versa . This is one of the many reasons we test our waxes it's not only to see if the scent lasts.
This is something we don't want. Those customers who are thinking this is a positive thing is under the assumption that more is better, like the triple scented gimmick. When actually as a candle maker we want to use less FO that gives off that powerful triple scented smell lol..

Does the baby diaper smell like Luvs diapers or a stinky diaper?

I would say the main differences would be fragrances, price, and wax. Our prices are lower due to our margins being smaller, because we don't have to pay a percentage to a direct sales rep. Our fragrances will be similar but not exactly like theirs. Wax, say they use Paraffin well which one? Nobody knows so you can't say you use their wax.
If you were actually asked that question that's how I would answer it, now if you are using it as a marketing strategy I think that's tacky.
I don't understand why people think they have to put down another candle maker or industry to make a buck.
I'm not saying that those marketing their products as such don't sell anything, cause they do. I mean there's a sucker born every min.
I've been making candles for almost 11 years, I've never put another chandler down nor another business that sells candles such as Direct Sales.
If anything if a customer is asking for a scent that I don't offer say at a craft show but I know that there's another chandler there I tell them to see if they have that scent. I'm a firm believer in helping others succeed will help me succeed.
That's just my 2 cents.

Maybe instead of making candles you guys could try your hand at soap making. I know there are beer soap recipes out there, I don't see why you couldn't have fun and try to put whiskey in it. If your still hooked on candle making, then I suggest like the others and buy a Whiskey
fragrance oil. You could start with the Whiskey fragrance oil and mix it with other fragrance oils to make it your own special Whiskey scent.

Also as a customer they have no clue how your soap is made. Unless you have it on your site that it takes this amount of time for larger orders they might just assume that you have that much in stock or it doesn't take that long to make.

I go to Etsy and have one of the graphic desingers design a label for me. I look for one that makes mulitiple labels for a set price, like a clamshell label and a melt label. I tell them the size, my logo, any colors or themes I want. They send me 2 or 3 different designs and I pick which one I like the best.
