BubbleBath
I'm going to make my first master batch of lye, but have a rather silly question. If my recipe calls for 10 oz water and 4 oz lye; when I measure from the batch, I will measure 14 oz of the batch, correct? I know this is one of those slap-your-forehead type of questions, but I had to ask it. Thanks...
jbren
What percent solution are you making? You have to make the masterbatch at a certain percentage, then make sure all of your recipes are converted to that percentage. So, if you are doing a 33% solution, which is 1 part lye to 2 parts water, and your recipe calls for 4 oz of lye, you would use 12 oz of your solution (4+8)
BubbleBath
Thanks... I just threw those numbers out, they are not what what is in my recipe. But I understand the concept now. Thanks again.
jwahlton
Listen to Jackie, she knows what she's talking about! I'm still skeered to do that
