bobbyd
Hi AllWe are new to candle making. I was at Wal-Mart and saw some Quilted 4 oz. glass jelly jars made by Kerr. They were only $8.00 for 12 jars. Does anyone know if they can be used for jar candles? Also, I saw some metal shot glasses the other day. I wanted to try to make mini votive candles using the shot glass as the mold. I don't remember where I saw them but it must have been in a gift shop because they had Las Vegas printed on them. That's where we live. Thanks, bobbyd
Stella1952
I use them and like them very much.
ksranch
Ditto on the jars. But, the mini votives concern me because what would someone burn them in?
Stella1952
I use some glass votive candle holders as molds. The candles fit right back into them after they are released LOL
ksranch
Yea, but they are talking about using metal shot glass - they going burn them in there too? No biggie, just doesn't register with me.
Stella1952
The metal will heat up more quickly than glass... I would not personally use a metal shot container for a votive cup. For such a small candle that is twice as tall as it is wide, it's gonna become a hot chili pepper pretty quickly. Tins are frequently used for container candles, but typically their height is not the same ratio as a shot glass so there is less heat buildup.
