What size soap mold do I need to buy and how much bases goes into the mold?Example: If I get a 6lb mold do I need 6lbs of base?2. How much body safe FO do I use for the melt and pour soaps? Starr
You can buy/use just about any kind of mold you want. For your first time out, I would suggest something like a Milky Way Mold, Silicone Mold, or even a Pringle's Can if you want to do cut bars. You'll use as much base as is required to fill your mold. You don't need to allow any extra room for expansion. If you have a 3oz mold, you'll put 3oz in it. Remember that any additives (oils, butters, etc...) will increase your base amount. As for how much FO, a good rule of thumb is no more then .5oz but you will want to check with your supplier and see what their recommendations are.
