Jo Ann
well i did my hp soap with the following ing:saponated OilsOO 25%CO 25%Lard 45%Castor Oil 5%additivessweet almond oil 3 ozaloe vera 1/2 c1.4 EO (bergamot, lavender, lime)lye was 5% and did the calc on soapcalc 9 wpit went into the molds really nice and is fairly creamy looking not grainy.now, superfatting with sweet almond oil, will that mess up the lather and bubbles? cuz the flat mold for left over soap was ready to cut already and i used a small piece to to see how it feels and it didn't really lather, it bubbled slightly. is it too soon to check? greensoaper
If you added 3oz of SAO on top of a 5% lye discount, your superfat is somewhere around 9%.This can lessen the amount of "quick lather" that you get from your soap.Generally, HP soap improves with a nice cure just like CP.I wouldn't write it off yet, it will probably turn out to be great soap.BTW, I would skip the SAO. Your formula looks awesome without it. If you really want to do your superfat after the cook, just save out a bit of the olive and add it when you scent. I know several soapers who swear by that technique. HTH.
Jo Ann
thanx...i am hoping curing will work. the soap in my log mold is still a little warm, so it won't be ready to cut until tomorrow. first time i am using my mold full. ok so say, i want to make a face bar with these ingredients, can i use 20% OO and then use the other 5 for avocado oil after trace?
