PurpleHippie
Are there certain wicks that are more likely to produce soot? I know there are many factors such as FO % and wax used but has anyone had consistent soot issues with any one particular wick type?
cindym
I have not had soot issues with certain wicks but I have with certain waxes. 4630 was a sooter for sure, had to use a very small wick. I have since switched waxes. What wax and wicks are you using.
PurpleHippie
I am not currently having a problem with soot but I've had a few in the past with certain FO's. I was just reading some of the older post and was wondering if people have noticed a soot issue with specific wick types. I saw that someone mentioned RRD wicks and I did seem to have more soot issues with those when I used them.
Cindys
I agree with the RRD wicks. I had so much soot I quit using them. The side of my jar was black. I use cargill 3 wax. I switched to the ECO.pretabbed wicks. I like them, nice burn and no soot
lsbennis
I have had issues with RRD's getting mushrooms not really soot...who knows there are so many factors that could make a candle soot.
PurpleHippie
Mushrooming I could put up with but black soot covering my containers are a no-no.
