littysmom
Can someone tell me what the correct melting pool time should be for a 3in diameter candle. It is a 10 oz jar .Wax is parafin blend. it seems like my melting pools are full in a half an hour, 1/4in. I know that is not correct, and i have to wick down. What is the appox melting pool time I should be shooting for. Thanks, Lisa
Guest amynleebishop
Usually with my 16 oz mason jars (which have a 3 in diameter) I get a full melt pool in about 2-3 hrs. I would say if you are getting a full melt pool in half an hour that your wick is burning too hot and you need to wick down. I had this problem with the 4630 blend I was using.......the wax was burning a lot faster than it usually does no matter how I wicked it . littysmom
Thanks, I just got some helpful info at candle science "How to conduct a burn test" I bought a different wax and it just burns way different. Thanks for taking the time and answering. Lisa
