palette2006
Hi, I am relatively new to the candle making world and I would like to know about what types of paint to use for handpainting candles and also handpainting glass candle holders. I was reading about using paint pens for painting glass and I was wondering if someone could recommend a brand that they have tried and liked. Thanks!Lesliehttp://palette48.etsy.comhttp://www.sweetoutfits.com
Sally
Hi Leslie,I'm also a glass painter as well as chandler. I only use pots of paint but I've seen pens like those you mentioned. The ones I've seen are made by PEBEO I can't tell you if they're any good tho' as I've never used them.Good luck in your search.Sally. Trae
For painting on candles, you'll need to wipe the candle down with alcohol to get some of the surface oil off, then mix your paint with candle painting medium. I don't know about your area, but I've been having a tough time finding the medium in craft stores so I ordered several bottles from here:http://www.craft-supplies-online.com/productdetail.asp?item_nbr=345-DS39-2As for glass paint, I use Apple Barrel Indoor/Outdoor Gloss acrylic paint. You can find that with other acrylic paints at WalMart or Michael's.HTH!
