Jane42
I want to ship some FO's to Canada. Can someone tell me the proper way to package them? I know they are flammable, so I am concerned about that...USPS says they will not ship flammable. If not them, do I turn to UPS? I can fit them into a Global Priority Envelope. Thanks so much for any help you can give me. Jane
BrandNewToCandles
I've gotten oils in flat rate envelopes from the US. The smaller bottles made it just fine, the large bottle (16oz) destroyed the envelope and it was repackaged by the po. I usually ask sellers to ship them airmail letter post in a small box, it's pretty cheap and takes about a week. If the flashpoints are too low, they can be shipped economy surface which is even cheaper but takes a lot longer.A little tip for your customer, don't declare the value of the package too high (under $20 if you can) we pay taxes once it crosses the border. You'll need to declare the contents and the value and you may need the recipient's phone number for the customs slip. It's not much extra trouble to ship us, I wish more sellers would. I've missed out on some good stuff!!
MichelleOH
I have shipped FOs to Canada using USPS. I will tell you my Post Office would not accept it in a Global Priority Envelope. They told me the bottle distorted the envelope and that was not allowed. I boxed my FOs and filled out proper custom forms and had no problems. Jane42
Thank you both so much for your help! I really appreciate. This is the first time I have sold anything in the classifieds. It may take a little more time for me to figure it out and get it to her, but if she has the patience I will give it a try!Do I need to show any paperwork to verify the flashpoint on these? How do I know how low "low" is before they would want me to economy surface ship it?Thanks again...Jane
BrandNewToCandles
Check the usps website under international shipping, the flashpoint regulations should be listed there. It's really only a short slip to fill out, basic info. I have never heard anyone mention having to show proof of flashpoint.http://pe.usps.gov/text/imm/immicl/immiclcd_003.htmlThis page has the mailing conditions for Canada. Might help you. Sag_77
A small hint....and most of the companies I order from in the US do this also.....in description just put "candle supplies", even if it is only oils. Also I was told at my post office to always ship oils parcel post never airmail, I am not sure if it is called the same thing in the US.
