M&P help needed

Hi guys, I wanted to experiment with adding to my M&P base

I'm still new to soap so go easy on me now guys :laugh2:

I've been reading that adding shaving base to opaque or clear helps with the lather.

How does this recipe sound? Do I have too much oils? Also

How much shaving base would you add to this recipe?

8oz opaque soap base

4 tsp monoi oil

2 tbsp shea butter

1 tsp oatmeal or should I use 2 tbsp?

4 tsp castor oil

4 tsp honey

? shaving base

Usually the rule of thumb is 1 TBSP oils pp

so your recipe has 8 tsp oil, ..how many TBSP is that? I think its a little too much oil for 1/2 lb base.

So for only 8 oz, you could only use 1.5 tsp total. I would probably add 1/2 tsp monoi, 1/2 tsp shea, 1/2 tsp honey and the oatmeal. If you were adding the castor for bubbles, I don't think it works in m&p; it has to be saponified to be a "bubbly" oil. Go easy on the oatmeal; a teaspoon is probably plenty. It's surprisingly easy to get it too scratchy. Don't know about the shaving soap, sorry.

Castor works well in MP. Very well.
