Starting Point for Candle

Recommended Posts

I want to make emergency candles for a friend of mine who is a prepper. I an going to use 6006 wax no color or scent in an 8 oz jelly jar. I was wondering what wick would be a good one to try out first. I was thinking an eco 2 That's what CS recommends. What do you think?

That should work just fine. I also make 2-inch diameter by 6-inches tall as well as dipped paraffin/stearic tapers for emergency uses. For the paraffin I just use the Michael's 140* melt point with some added stearic and flat braid wicks. They throw light really well for such situations and they will store indefinitely.

You don't have to be a "prepper" to be prepared! Lighting up scented candles in a no electricity situation is a great way to make everyone sick, so unscented basic paraffin are the way to go.
