  1. I have been wondering about them also. My Hubby has been working in Quakertown lately (flying too and from). He said he found them but hasn't stopped yet. I was trying to convenience him to get me some wax and wicks and bring it back to me. Imagine trying to get through airport security with that! ha..ha. :tiptoe: I don't think he will do it. Maybe I can get him to bring me back some FO's.

  2. IFT has good oils. You have to buy in rather large quantities. I used to buy directly from them (about8 or 9 years ago) and when I began making candles again I contacted them but their minimum order had increased and at this time I don't make a large enough quantity to justify buying that much. They will send you samples if you ask. Also they will create custom scents for you.

  3. I still use coffee cans as pour pots. I used to use the double boiler method with the coffee can, old pan and jelly jar ring lids inside the pan to lift the coffee can. Since then I now have a presto pot but have still been using the coffee cans. The only problem is that now they have begun putting a ring around the inside of the can which can make pouring a little more difficut. I cover the cans with wax paper and rubber band if I have left over wax. Has worked for me for many years and is inexpensive. I asked friends to save cans in the beginning which helped me to accumulate enough for all my scents. Just a suggestion.

  4. I just recently asked my hubby the same question for a Hawaiian scent that I thought smelled somewhat like pinapple. He suggested a blue color, I asked him why and he said when he thinks of Hawaii (he has been there) he thinks of the ocean and the color blue. I have seen other candles with Hawaiian scent colored blue. I had thought about yellow/orange because of the sunsets.

  5. My wonderful hubby built me a craft/candle making room in the garage with radiant floor heating (the entire garage has this, we use the rooms as recreation rooms actually with my teenage sons have a room of their own out there for a place to hang out work on things and play darts and music. Anyhow, it stays around 55-60 degrees when it is very cold out in Northern Ohio. I turn on an electric heater if I get cold out there while working but not when I'm not in the room. I use a presto pot and a hot plate and it works out well. I cool the candles in a box to slow the process. I don't see any difference then when I used to work in the kitchen.

  6. I used to make candles many years ago and bought my wax and scents from Walnut Hill. I am looking for new suppliers because last I heard Walnut Hill had burned down and not rebuilt their candle supply portion of their business. I would also be interested in any companies that are distributors of IFT scents. I am starting again, small and don't want to purchase 10 pounds of a single scent at this time which is what IFT's minimum is. I also used to have a great supplier for apothecary jars with wooden lids and for the life of me I can't remember the company's name and I moved since then and did not keep any of the receipts. Any suggestions would be appreciated! I have located some companies on the internet but I'm not sure which ones have good scents and other products.
