  1. I have a small silicone mold that I want to make some embeds with. I ran out of 4630 but have Joy wax and 4625. Is the 4625 too hard of a wax to use by itself or do I need to mix it with Joy? What ratio should I mix? Seems like 50/50 would be too much joy but maybe it doesn't really matter much.

  2. Thanks! The embed wax is 4625. Cut it out with a cookie cutter and put it in the fridge to harden. We were able to stick it to the side by hitting the side of the jar with a hairdryer for a few seconds. We poured 4630 at about 160f and I was afraid that the star would heat up and slide down, but it stayed right there!

The lid is just painted with rust colored paint but we usually roll it in a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg, and coffee grounds to give it a cool rustic look that smells good.

  3. Here to...love it. Use it for pillars, votives and in my tart blend as the base w/container wax added.

What container wax do you blend with it? Do you blend 50 /50? I have 4630 and 4625 on hand and I am wanting to make some melts this weekend for the first time

  4. Hi all,

I am going to make some clamshell melts for the first time this weekend. I have some IGI 4625 on hand... is that a good wax for this? Any other suggestions?

What % FO should I use? 1.5oz per lb? Or even 2? I'm guessing the max that the wax will hold is the answer (i.e. 10%)?

I saw someone selling melts on Ebay that uses 3oz. They say their melts are really soft because of that, obviously because the wax can't hold that much. Is that ok to do in a warmer?

I had read on this forum about Ky's Votive Wax and was excited to see that they are very close to me - about 45 minutes - then I saw that they had been bought out by a co. in North Carolina! Bummer!

  6. I'm testing CD10, CD12, and Premier Wick WI 767 (from candlemaking.com) with 4630, no coloring, 1oz per lb of FO in 8oz square mason jars. And the CD's dance around alot and puff smoke occasionally while the 767 has a much tamer flame. It has a good melt pool, going all the way across in about 2 hours and after 4 hours was maybe 1/2" deep.

I'm liking this wick! But not sure about the HT. Going to try it with 1.5oz of FO.

  7. Hi all,

I just started making ball jar candles recently using NG Joy wax. I was wondering if it was possible to place an embed on the inside of the jar up against the glass so that it shows thru? Is there a wax that wouldn't melt at the 165f that I pour at?

I hope this isn't a dumb question... lol
