  1. I agree Hobby Lobby is not a desireable wax. However, I have used it in a pinch with Vybar 103 (bought in 5 pound bags) at 2 tablespoons per pound. Hobby lobby is basicaly straight wax with no additives. It is cheap and if you can pick it up locally, is a good place to start. You will need to look around for your additives and buy in bulk rather than pay $5 for 4 ounces. Hobby Lobby is a good place to start until you narrow down your issues with learning. Then you will want to go to a higher quality wax. I have 10 blocks on my garage floor that I won't use but I will find a use for it somewhere, even if it is to ... well I dunno yet but I will.

  2. Sometimes ordering in bulk saves money. If I order 5 cases of wax, I almost get a case free because UPS gives a lesser rate for quantity even tho it is the same amount and in 5 separate boxes. What ticks me off is that many supplers use UPS because of a standard pickup time (which can guarantee the date received) which is be easier than tossing a small order in an envelope and sending it by the post office regular mail the next day. Pick up from the supplier by the shipper adds to the cost of delivery. I sent my grand daughter her birthday gift and the shipping was almost the same price as the gift and delivery was 7 days for 1500 miles. I could have walked it there in that time.

  3. Patti, sometimes I have a hard time retailing these. Not everybody likes "cats" wink, wink. They are actually prettier than the picture shows. They still look like plastic. The problem is shipping. Because they weigh about 2 pounds, shipping gets cost prohibitive on the end retailer. It would take someone to really want want to pay for the shipping for personal use. I don't think they could be effectively sold in bulk simply based on shipping. The FO is Full Moon Witch's Brew. Smells like an incense shop.

  4. This is our Wiccan Altar Candle. It stands 11 inches tall and weighs 1.14 pounds. It burns 30-60 hours. The cat is silver plate and stands almost 3 inches. I had to adjust the color with photoshop because the middle color is actually lavender and the candle is white. Not everybody will appreciate this but some do.

  5. These candles are parrafin. They stand 11 inches tall and weigh 1.14 pounds. The burn between 30-60 hours. I am sorry the pics aren't clearer. No flash was used. They shine because they look like they are made out of plastic which is the finish I tried so hard to create.

  6. I believe all wax contains air. It happened to me because I was cooling my candles too slowly. This gives the bubble a chance to gather rather than remain small. Covering them would only seem to slow the cooling even more. Have you tried to refrigerate? I refrigerate once the top of the candle has formed and the center is still liquid. This works with pillars in a tin mold. I do not know about glass. My psychiatrist won't let me play with glass.

  7. If the directions are followed and the candles is only burned one hour per inch where the wick meets the wax, they burn nicely although irregularly because of the shape. These are 2 inches across at the top and it tapers to 3.5 inches at the bottom so it is basically a 2-3 hour burn per session. The accents are not embeds. The items are placed low enough that we have not had blowouts. However, my wife "test" burns these and lets them burn for up to 8 hours at a time so see how they work. (That is what she says. Personally, I think she might be too lazy to blow them out. Then they will drip like crazy.) As I said before, nobody burns them anyway. We have fun making them to see what see what we can come up with. Anybody else have 8 candles burning at one time? If so does your house look like the inside of a chimney too?
