I tested the one from C&S and you need to poke relief holes and do repours. If you don't you will have caverns when you burn it. I was sick of fighting with the wicking and gave up on it. Good luck with your testing.

Not sure if this helps but I heat my votive cups before I pour. Have you tried that? I am lucky my DH heats the cups with a heat gun while I mix the scent and color in the wax. HTH

I still hear people say they hear that gel candles explode. I tell them the safety factors in making them and that I have been making them for 6 years. I do tell them to keep the wick trimmed because gel does get hot. As with any candle you shouldn't leave it unattended. Read everything you can about making them and test would be my suggestion. I was looking at Alabasters for plain 16 oz mason jars and the price was good. I was wondering if anyone had ordered these? I would like to know if the glass is a thick enough. Also They don't show shipping totals, so so they charge alot for shipping? I hate when companies don't compute shipping. TIA

I use 5 drops of red to 1 drop of brown, It seems everyone has a different way.

I have done it both ways. The ones that seem to sell the best are the ones with cubes all the way through. I make them by putting a couple cubes in the bottom then pour, add a couple cubes, etc until almost full the a put cubes a top sticking our a little. HTH

My opinion is you are pouring the first pour too high. When I first started making votives I did this and had to learn to pour the first level to just below the rim. I did that and when the wax cools it shrunk enough so that I could do a second pour all the way across. Good Luck
