  1. I use KY all natural votive/pillar wax, with Creme Brulee 3/4oz pp, 3 smidgens of Ivory flakes, using 60-C, ended up with a very good throw, with 1/4" shell, no blow outs, I have burned to for 3-hrs straight, and burned the next day 5-hrs straight, and the next 6-hrs straight and so on, Like I said before, I have a large flame which I don't care for. So I guess the old saying that we candlers say, what works for one, doesn't mean it will work for you. Also the location on where one is. I"m in Arkansas and your in Mich. We arn't as cold here like you are there. I guess the weather has alot to do with on things burn. The Creme Brulee isn't the only pillar I have made , I have done Christmas Morning, Amish Harvest, Angel Feathers, Holiday Pear I'm burning now, with CD-22. It's been burning for 1-hr and 20 mins, the one thing I don't like, is the CD's bend at the tip, which causes it to not burn correctly, but I have have the large flame like I do when using the 60-C, I have tried the the 51-C, the flame dies out in the first hr or 2. The Premier Wick I thought you had to buy a thousand at a time, I don't sell that many candles to be ordering a thousand at a time.

This is why I love this board all the information that we can give to eash other.

I have a question if someone doesn't mind answering, when putting your wick in your pillars and trim them, do you trim to 1/2" or 1/4" to start you pillar?

Carrie, which square braid are you talking about?

  2. I like this container also, I burned the Macintosh Apple again, it burned ok this time too. I'm on my last burn for this conainer. I'll be pouring another tester, I'm going to try the LX 24 and see how it does for me, I might have to go up to the LX 28 since I'm using pure soy with BW. Pam did you use one or two of the Eco-8 in the smaller one?

    Thanks for information Pam,

  3. Has anyone had any sucess in wicking the 16oz container from Family dollar? It has kinda swirled sides, and flared out at the top, It stands 4 1/2" in height, with an approx 3" dia starting under the flared top and going down to the bottom, it sort of cures in just a little and comes back out for the base. I hope you can understand my discription of it. I had tried single wicking it, it worked very well untill it got down to the lower part of the container, the flame ( HTP-1212 ) was very good all the way until the lower part of the container, then it starting getting small. I would like any feed back at all.

    Thanks in advance

    KY pure soy

    1 oz FO-Macintosh Apple

Dye Flake, 3 smidgens of Red & 1 smidgen of Yellow

  4. 3" x 6"

I tried my hand at pillars, they look really good on the outside. But, I cut one in half and much to my suprise :shocked2: I had a large air pocket. I brought my temp to 180, stired slowly, poured at 165, ( held 1oz back to do my 2nd pour with ) I let it cool for 1 hr and 1/2 poked 4 relief holes around the wick, did the 2nd pour at 175, I also tape the sides of the mold to help release the air. So what am I doing wrong.:(

PLEASE HELP, Any feed back would be appreicated

    I use KY Votive/Pillar

  5. First time making a pillar ( 3"x6" ) I sprayed the inside with generic no stick cooking spray, wiped out the excess, poured my pillar, ( it really took a long time for it to cool, I didn't think it would take that long for it to cool.) I didn't have any problems in getting the pillar out of the metal mold, but It still feels oily, Is ther anything I can do to where it doesn't feel so oily to the touch?

I have a couple more questions, If anyone could help. My mold is 3" wide x 6 1/2" tall, Am I suppose to fill the mold all the way up? (I thought 1 lb of wax would fill it but it didn't, I'll have to melt more next time.)

Do the cotton wicks work the best in pillars? And could you give my some suggestion on which wicks to start testing with?

Thanks for any and all help would be appriciated

  6. I could sure use some help on these, I use KY all natural votive/pillar wax. Anyone that makes these as refills, could you tell me if you are suppose to burn them and get a mp or are you suppose to have a small wall of wax around the container (flower pot votive ) I don't know how I'm to wick them. Pleassssee HELP.

  7. Thanks for the help Chris, Isn't that size jar too small to try and double wick? The jar is only 3 1/2" tall, 3 1/8" wide. I'm not hat good at double wicking. I had tried to double wick a 16oz square victorian jar that wal-mart carried, I had no luck at all in double wicking it. I tried using the 2, HTP-73,83, also tried 2 CD-6,8 they all burned to fast, couldn't even get half way in burning right.
