Oo I got a bottle in an assortment of 1 oz fragrances from a member here.. can't wait to try it! I did the sparkling clean today and wow! Ct on it is incredible!

Oh wow... That's my favorite company!! Every fragrance I've bought smelled great! It's funny, I just bought 15 bottles from a user here, and now i have to get more!!!!!

I know that candlescience Clean Cotton is pretty awesome! Smells pretty true to me

These are some melts I made earlier today with a few silicone molds i picked up at walmart yesterday, decorated with some cosmetic glitter that I got as well!

They aren't perfect, but they are just for my use, so oh well

The pink ones are Muscadine, and the blue ones are Pink Sugar

I know this is a bit of an older thread, but I was wondering if anyone has tried their Toasted Marshmallow.. One of my fave candles here lately is the Marshmallow Fireside by BBW, and I was wondering if it was similar to that. I think I'll be ordering a sampler Since they are in Georgia, shipping is much cheaper!

Sooo.. I am excited! I've been facinated with making tarts and clamshell melts lately. After work today, I stopped in Walmart, and was browsing around the crafts and found some great stuff for tarts!

1. Found these great little zip bags, perfect for 2-3 tarts per bag. pk of 100 for $2

2. Cute little muffin cups for $1.97

3. Silicone muffin molds. They hold 4 each, and were $1 a piece.

4. Cosmetic grade body glitter, 4 pks for $6. Came in this funky kit with stencils and such.. wont be using those LOL. The glitter is very fine, and in gray, pink, dark pink and blue.

So yep, had some fun today! Now to make tarts into the night! I'll post some pics of the finished products tomorrow.

I've heard that candlescience chardonay is pretty good, I haven't tried it personally tho.

Hi! I was just wondering if anyone knew the best place to find a candle mold of animals, specifically a hippopatamus. I have a friend who collects all things hippo, and would go crazy for a candle. It won't be burned, so I'm not too concerned about wicking it. I've been googling and the prices are a bit steep!

What happened?

I had used a grapefruit fragrance from hobby lobby.... It seemed to mix into the wax right. I molded a pillar with paraffin wax.

I lit the candle after a few days, and about ten minutes into the burn, the flame hit a little pool of the fragrance oil.

I caught the tablecloth on fire, and barely managed to keep the boathouse from burning down!

Perhaps its not really a flashpoint issue, but it was a huge wakeup call!

I've been making candles for a little over a year, and I've only figured out and tested 2 wax/wick combinations that I'm comfortable giving to my friends and family. I still consider myself a newbie to the candle world, and would keel over at the thought of selling them! I can't afford the liability! there are Sooo many different thing to learn about, experiment with, and discover before ill ever sell candles. Things that run through my mind are things like:

What if the wick is too big/small for the candle? It could tunnel and go out, or flame up and hurt someone!

Is the fragrance oil I'm using okay in this wax? Will it last, or what? Do I need to heat the wax to a higher temp to make sure its mixed?

I had a little accident with flashpoints in fragrance oil about 6 months ago... Is hate to make a candle, not test it, then unleash it upon some unsuspecting customer who doesn't trim the wicks!

I'm prolly way too paranoid, but rather be that than hurt someone.

Just my two cents.

Thats probably what my problem is then. I've been waiting for it to be almost cool. I'll try that next time.

Hey guys, I've been experimenting with palm pillars, and need some advice. I am using pure palm feathering wax, and everytime I do wedges, the bottom layer seems to separate just a bit from the mold, causing a tiny bit of wax from the top layer to seep in. The candles end up with some imperfections like these I made today. These were made from the feathering palm wax I mentioned, using CS Carribean Teakwood (1oz=1lb). I heated the wax to 180, and poured at 170. I also wrap the molds with aluminum foil and a towel to keep them warmer longer.

What should I do to avoid it? Anyone have any other comments or suggestions?

Hi! I'm a bit of a beginner, and have been lurking these forums for around a year. Eventually I might try selling candles, but for now, I have just been reading advice here, and experimenting on my own.

Just start by making it a hobby first. See if you like it or not.

hehe, i ordered a 1oz bottle to try it out. I really do like the oils from CS, only one I dont really like from them is the newest honeysuckle. I cant wait til it gets here tomorrow!

Hey guys! Just wondering if anyone is going to try the new Raspberry Sangria fragrance oil from Candlescience yet? I saw it update on the front of their site yesterday, looks like it would be a good one. :rolleyes2

Poured the Summer Margarita last night. This is really tart, like a very authentic lime scent. This really does remind me of a high quality margarita I would find in a Mexican restaurant.

The Iced Cranberry is AWESOME in wax! I hated it in the bottle, but it is now my absolute favorite in wax! Very fruity and spicy at the same time, and throws like crazy!

Champagne Snow Showers smells interesting in wax. It kinda reminds me of Clean Linen, my mom likes it alot.

Plumeria Frangapani turns really sweet and subtle after pouring. It doesn't have a very strong throw, but it is pleasant.

Jamaica me Crazy is pretty good in the candle, wish it threw a bit better though. I can smell melon and a bit of pineapple.

The turtle is my fav! So cute!

I forgot to mention, I soaped their Patchouli this week as well.. blended it with some warm vanilla that I had. Smells great! It is a very masculine smell in my opinion though. I will probably be giving this batch to my bf to use.:rolleyes2

I have two of the scents in wax right now, soda pop and butt naked.

Soda pop: This smells really great in wax (1 oz to 2lbs of parrafin). I made some votives and a few 4 oz jars. The throw is really nice, one votive fills up my large bathroom! It smells like some sort of soda, not quite coke or pepsi, but something soda related.

Butt Naked: This is really strong in wax, i used 1 oz in 2lbs of parrafin, i might use less next time. It goes from smelling like a tanning lotion (to me) to smelling like a fruity cocktail. I can smell the cherry scent now that it is in wax. I like it

Got mine in finally today! Here are my reviews, out of the bottle..

1. Soda Pop: smells delicious.. cant figure out what it reminds me of, but definately soda related.

2. Summer Margarita: my bf says it smells like lime and summer, and makes him think of the beach. guess thats good

3. Plumeria Frangapani: This smells really fruity to me, more than floral.

4. Champagne Snow Showers: This smells like aged wood to me, kinda like cask wood..?

5. Fluffy Cupcake: smells like a yellow cake, bf says he can smell frosting.

6. Butt Naked: smells like a really awesome tanning lotion with a spicy smell... cant really describe it..

7. Jamacia me crazy: just like i imagined. tropical, fruity, punchy and mouthwatering.

8. Iced Cranberry: Smells kinda stuffy in the bottle, ill have to wait until i pour it to decide if i like it or not. kinda reminds me of old pouporri in the bottle.

9. Amish harvest: smells like fall, pumpkin spice and pie.wonderful!

10. Patchouli: very herby.. bf says it smells like the kind of store you would buy a "water pipe" in, lol:yay:
