Hi, we're actually a tableware mfg., but found this forum when we received an odd, handwritten claim from a man in Willmar, MN, that was suspicious enough to research on line. Just as you described, the consumer [Paul Hanson at 312 9th St NW) said he received a defect item of ours at a gift exchange party -- in this case, a glass tray. He used the same verbage: "it was a rip off, useless, worthless and thrown away" and likewise expected "...a response and explanation on how this happened".
Normally, we'd send a no charge replacement with a letter of apology, but of course will not do so now that we know this is a scam. Just wanted to let you know that he's not only targeting candle manufacturers.
