  1. So I am setting up a booth at a local Christmas Event Dec. 3 and 4th. I am just going to offer tarts and maybe some tart gift baskets. We live in a small town but this Christmas Event is usually quite large, but this year they are only having less than 20 vendors, which I will be one of them. But during this event, there will be a huge Christmas parade, which I think the whole town goes too! :) Since I have never done anything like this before, how much would you suggest that I take? I was thinking about 400-500 tarts and about 10 or 20 gift baskets. Is that overshooting for two days or undershooting? I just don't want to make way too much product, which hopefully if I do I can sell it later. But I also don't want to lose out on any money. Any suggestions for the whole booth thing? I am going to have a tart burner going so when they walk in, they can smell my products and hopefully that will draw them to buying some! Any information would greatly be appreciated!

  2. So I am going to go to a few local shops in my area to see if they would be interested in purchasing my tarts. Should I charge by the tart or by quantities of 50 or 100? I would really like to get 0.75 for each tart but is that overstretching it, asking for too much? This is new to me. I have had some customers buy from me and say that they are really good - last a long time. Any ideas about any of this? Thanks so much.

  3. I figured that would be the safest, but it seems like some of the pricing would be high for shipping. Do you have pretty good resonse regardless of the shipping charges? I guess it all comes down to quality of the product - I just don't want me customers to not purchase due to the cost of shipping. We shall see! Thanks so much for the info about USPS and signing up with discounts! That will help! :yay:

  4. So I am getting ready to open my Facebook store on Saturday and the program I am using on there, I dislike greatly because it messes everything up when it comes to shipping and I just found out today (after I have spent hours on there getting ready to set my store up) that this is a glitch that has been going on for MONTHS! :angry2: My question is do you guys know of any cheaper ways to to cut shipping costs? I can use the flat rate boxes by USPS but does this sound ridiculous:

Keep in mind I am only selling tarts.

6 tarts - (I am guessing at this one for my own bubble package) - $3.00 shipping

12 tarts - $4.95 Priority Flat Rate box

Anything over 12 tarts (which I don't think will go over well) - $10.70

    24 tarts and more - $10.70.

Any ideas on how to get these prices down? I am lost and my brain is about to explode. I don't want people to NOT buy because of shipping charges. :rolleyes2

  5. I just bought the Ecosoya PB pillar wax from Candlescience and it is awesome! Comes out of the molds easily, holds scent well, and the actual tart itself turned out awesome - that is what I use it for to make tarts! You might want to try that kind. I am so glad I bought this wax and tried it!

Plus, I made three scent orders - I ordered some from Lone Star, Candlescience, and Candle Source.

AWESOME, AWESOME scent from Candlesource - pineapple coconut! OMG! I think this is a great scent!

I also like the smell of the pumpkin creme brulee from Candle Source. I just made some tarts tonight - will let you know how strong the scent is when melting. To me, just by being in the bottle, it seems as though Candle Source scents are a little weaker but, again, I haven't made any tarts besides the pumpkin creme brulee and haven't melted it yet.

Still waiting on Lone Star scents to get here! Thanks for all of the info!:yay:

  6. I have been using the 464 and some scents really hold to it, while others I can barely smell. I am using 1 oz of FO per pound. I like that the wax is already in pieces when it arrives though. That makes it so handy!

I like the creaminess of it, but it is a bit soft.

What is your favorite for tart making only? Thanks in advance! :cheesy2:

  7. I have been making tarts for a month or so now and I have really gotten the hang of it (or so I think - haha). I ordered from Lone Star and Candlescience only. I love the quickness and customer service of CandleScience and most of the scents I have ordered have been good; however, I think some were too weak (which I am sure it is like that with all places). So who has the best and strongest fragrance oils in your opinion? I like the bakery and more primitive scents. Thanks!

I have been reading tons and tons of pages on here, so I thought I would ask you guys one more time if you would not mind asking. And these are for tarts.
