  1. Like many, I find the the CS wick guide is only a starting point. Generally, I would wick up from their recommendation. I have wicked up with HTP wicks successfully, however, I have found that I prefer Zinc wicks. I do get a mushroom, but no smoking, no soot, so I can live with that. You're really going to have to find out what works for you by testing. Different FO's may require a different wick. Don't worry though, you'll get the hang of it! :)

  2. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think that even if the company doesn't make candles, you can't use their name. I think they own the name and the rights to it. So 'Coolwater' for example, would be a name, slogan (whatever) owned by Davidoff and only they would have the right to use it for marketing, etc.

I could be wrong, and if I am, someone please correct me. But I would stay away from using that name and perhaps rename your scent with something that is close enough for people to make the connection.

  3. Hi There Everyone!

I'm pretty new to candle making and have been playing around with IGI 4630. So far, so good for the most part. However, I am interested in trying the IGI 4627 Comfort Blend.

I've heard that it is messy and hard to work with. To those who use or have used it, do you have any tips on how to work with this wax? Should I even bother or just stick with 4630???

Thank you in advance for your help and knowledge. :smiley2:

  4. Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has ever used fragrance oils from Taylored Concepts. If so, were you pleased with the quality?

I was on their site and boy do they have a selection. I'm interested in purchasing some FO's to make some more candles, but thought it would be wise to find out if anyone has any feedback on this company.

Thanks in advance for your input and Happy Friday!:cheesy2:

  5. Hi There Everyone,

    I'm new to the board.

Here's my dilemma: I made some jar candles (IGI 4630) several days ago. I followed the instructions to the letter! They set up nicely and I've had them curing for about 3 days. I lit them today and I can not smell a thing. I used 7% of FO (Grapefruit & Mangosteen from CS), and HTP wicks.

I mixed the FO into the wax, stirring for several minutes.

    What am I doing wrong???

    Any advice would be appreciated.
