We purchased sachet base from the candlemakers store, set up all the jars, packaged it in the paper envelope, and it seems to be holding the scent very well. We really like it because it is not very labor intensive and can be mark up well. Here is my question. Does anyone know what it really is? It seems like odorless kitterlitter. My husband says it looks like and feels like the "Sta Dri" that they use in the shop(he is a large equip. mechanic) that they throw down to soak up their spills. It contains no chemicals or smells and cost about $8.00 a #40lb bag. It makes sense that this could be the same that they sell for the sachet base. Candlemakers is very reasonable for the base ($12.50 for 50 lbs.) but it costs us $30.00 to ship it. Does anyone know about this?
I know this is an old post, but I can't let it die:) Does anyone know where to find this "sta dri"? All I can find locally is "ZEP", has anyone used this?
Says it is "15 times more absorbent than clay products and is dust free"...

haha it is an addiction!! I think I might look for a CA (candles anonymous) help group, or maybe that would be a good addition to the forum, haha.
I would suggest rather than trying to cool the molds pour at a lower temp. What kind of wax are you using?

I have had not problems reusing jars. I've found that fingernail polish remover works great to get wick stick-um residue off, I haven't tried it on glue.

Hi everyone!! I'm feeling tenacious and would like to make some palm candles with home made/grown infused oils (all the info I've found pertains to B&B/soap). I pour at 200 degrees so I really want a good carrier oil with high FP that is safe for candles. Haha, I know palm isn't the best choice for this, I will conduct extensive testing!
- What carrier is safe/safest for candle use- (olive, sweet almond, jojoba, safflower, another)?
- Is there anything that can be added to extend the expiration?
- How long is the "cure" time?
- Do the same rules that apply to infused oil as for EO?
Any information or advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!!

Believe it or not- cellophane is made from cellulose, which is a pure plant derivative. Its bio-degradable, sustainable, common and relatively inexpensive. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellophane
We target earth friendly audience and that was one of things I came across while figuring out packaging.
Also Staples has a good selection of recycled paper. Right now have awesome specials and free shipping w orders over $50!
