Hello have just started using 416 and having problems with frosting and lumpy tops. Has anyone else had issues with this wax - I've tried pouring colder (sloppy) and hotter than recommened, but still not 100% happy with appearance , HT throw is great. Has anyone tried blending with palm wax or any suggestions on alteratives.

Just wondering if others are experiencing problems ie frosting/lumps uneven surfaces with the GB416 tart wax. Previously, I used GB474 and it was perfect very little frosting etc. Our supplier has changed to GB416 awhile ago - even various pouring temps are unsuccessful:(
Can this wax be blended with palm or does anyone have any ideas?? Thanks muchly

Yep also have major frosting with 464 (I now no longer colour as a result). Tried various things to stop the frosting but haven't found anything that works - so if anyone has any suggestions. Have seen some great pure soy coloured and wish I could do the same. I did find higher pour temps helped a little but still had frosting issues. I used liquid dyes as well.
Also tried the UV -stops the colour fading but not the frosting.

I also use GB464 with CO & liquid dyes. I had so much trouble with frosting no matter what temp I poured at. The frosting would occur usually within a month or so and with some colour and fragrance combinations frosting occured within days. I no longer colour my soy for that reason - I use my dyes with my palm pillars instead. Seen some great coloured soy candles and wish I could get those results without frosting (or very little frosting).
However, my candles do have a great hot and cold throw - important to let them cure - I usually cure them for about 5 - 7 days before testing! BTW I use CDN wicks.

From experience I've found web order mainly come from repeat customers. As mentioned earlier the web is flooded with sites. Generally, I think people want to smell, see and touch the candles before they buy. Hence, markets, expos etc are a good place to find customers that will repeat buy.

Hi there,
Just found this forum and its great! I had similar probs with the apothecary Jars (! am using 464 wax) and CDN wicks. I tried unsuccessfully to single wick with recommened CDN 22. Depending on the fragrances some didn't a reach a full wax pool or some just had mega huge flames. I now double wick all my apothecary jars with two CDN 12 wicks and haven't had a problem since.
Not sure if that may be relevant to your wick type but thought it may be an idea.
Pillar makers - wick your mold or use wickpins?

Well said all round Stella:DI have used both methods and find wick pins are far more accurate for centering wicks. My wicks fit perfectly - I use a hotplate to smooth off the bottom of the candle. Never had a problem with the wick falling out etc
I don't feel I am making inferior or cheap candles:confused: - but I am 'down under' and we sometimes do things different!
