  1. My favorite bottles are from bayousome.com. They are great and they have the fastest shipping on the planet. DO NOT BUY the roller bottles from Nature's Garden. As much as I love this company, their roller bottles are dreadful. They break EVERY time during shipment and are poor quality.

Hi Noodle, yeah I found that out:mad:

At Bayousome you get 50 for $25. They have lots of different color lid choices.

  2. By the way I preheat my jars in an oven before pouring if that makes any difference. Thank you in advance for your help. Elizabeth

Are you wicking them and then putting them in the oven to warm the jars? Because that would loosen the wicks up.

I use just a cheap old $3 glue gun, I don't warm my jars and I have never had a floating wick. I use a flat, wooden stick with a flat edge to push down on the wick tab when it is in the jar.

We tried using the round adhesive tabs and they were soooo sticky, they were hard to remove if you recycle your jars. We stopped using them.

    I hope this helps!

  3. Thank you Luminous Boutique!

    http://www.thesage.com/catalog/products/Glass-Roller-Ball-Bottle.html

I see they have the 12ml size with the silver lid.

I was looking for a black lid. I was looking at their other items and they seem to have alot to choose from and good prices :cheesy2:

I am really leaning towards trying the ones from SKS...for $.36/bottle you just can't beat it...you have to buy 48 but I don't think it will be hard to use them. Like I said before, they are addicting things to make:rolleyes2. You can be very creative and make your own scents which is exciting.

I just would hope that they will not leak. I hate to buy 48 of them if they leak. Has anyone else had any experience with the bottles from SKS?

  4. Hello,

I bought the Roll On Perfume Bottles from NG and the FO reacted with the plastic insert and caused all 100 of the bottle to crack.

I used the correct percentage of FO to jojoba oil. I did see that somebody had posted their review on NG's site that the bottles were cheap and cracked.

So, I bought some roll on bottles from WSP and the bottles appeared to be thicker & heavier. So far so good, but I wanted to order some more and they are out of stock until Dec 16th.

    I needed them sooner.

SKS has some and I was wondering if anyone else uses them with success?

Or does anyone have any other suppliers for these roll on perfume bottles?

These are so easy to make and you just want to just keep making more & more!!!

Also, I saw WSP was selling roll on bottles with metal balls but there were no reviews for them and they were $1 each. Is the metal ball better to use with FO?

  5. I did get some Crafters Choice white base (again not what I ordered) and that is promising enough to do some more tests. The hardness level was much better and I was able to get some good bubbles and lather. Is that the same as the base from WSP? Will have to look.

Yes, crafter's choice is the brand of soap I was referring to when I said WSP. I had bought the natural shea & goats milk. I have a potential customer that is allergic to soy which and the NG natural soaps except for the soya one of course do not have soy in them. I found the natural crafter's choice soap to be a very soft bar of soap and it disappeared pretty quick. I guess there is probably something I could add to make it hard..... but I don't what.

I don't know what I got myself into but I only started with candles and then, soap, then sprays, diffusers, salts, sugar scrubs, body butters.......when will it stop??? Now I need to perfect lip balm and gloss too. I don't think it will ever end. I am just glad I am in this with my friend:) It makes it alot of fun!!!!!! :cheesy2:

  6. Success!!!!!! I just made some soap with the Natural NG Soaps cocoa butter, shea, oatmeal and honey. I only bought the ones that did not have the preservatives in them.

They are really white compared to WSP's bases. Except the Honey soap by NG was honey colored.

I cut up small pieces off of and washed my arms and hands with them and they seemed to have lots of bubbles and just a little lather.

I was comparing them to WSP Natural bases -shea and goats milk. WSP has more lather and not many bubbles and it is a softer soap.

When you don't add anything to the soaps, the NG bases seem to make you feel a little more squeaky clean than the WSP.

But that is ok, because you can add your own emollients/oils to improve that characteristic.

The guys that are using our soaps(our husbands) were asking for more lather. They use a wash cloth and were used to soaps that lathered really easy in their washcloth. Moisturizing qualities were fine.

I am sure that after you add the FO, it decreases the foam & lather.

We also wanted more lather for when we shave in the shower.

So, I just used the NG Shea Natural Soap today (with Cucumber mint FO) and my skin feels better than it did when I used the goats milk base soap by WSP.

I think because I added my own goats milk. WHen you buy these bases, you really dont have any idea how much of the shea or goats milk was added by the manufacturer.

I did find some of that Dr Bronner's fragrance free liquid castile soap at target and I added 1/2 tsp per # of M&P Soap to increase my bubbles and lather and then added goats milk soap and olive oil. I would rather have too much bubbles and lather than not enough.

I am very pleased with the outcome and I will be buying more soap from NG. :yay:

I will have to add the Dr Bronners liquid soap to the rest of the WSP base that I have left.

Kitchen Fairy, I think I experienced what you meant when you had the marshmallow fluff. I think it just needed melted more.

I had tried suspending poppy seeds in the NG soap and to successfully do so, you have to keep stirring(so you don't get any film) until it cools and gets real thick. There is a fine line of when you acheive this thickness. if you wait too long and it starts getting to cool it suddenly gets like marshmallow flufff and then like cookie dough. If that happens, you just melt it a little more and then try again.

It is hard to find the right moment.

I added finely ground oatmeal and poppy seeds to the honey NG soap and it suspended very nicely. Now I am not sure if it worked well because I waited until it was cool enough to suspend in the soap or if it was because I added the ground oatmeal.

My instict says it was the oatmeal because it seemed to make it a thicker consistency in general after I added the ground oatmeal.

    Does anyone know for sure??????

  7. I use the unrefined shea butter frome WSP and it is white and has a mild to med smell...hard to compare since I never bought it anywhere else.

That is the natural scent of shea.

My friend who has bought alot of different butters for her own personal use says she really likes my butter because it didn't breakout her skin. Now she used to use just straighht butter on her face and my butter is whipped using 1/2 shea & 1/2 jojoba oil.

But I know what you mean about some people don't like the smell. I used it in YUZU FO and it covered up the smell nicely. THere are scents I am sure that cover it up nicely and I guess citrus smells are great at that.

    Soychic

  8. I buy the unrefined because I want the natural benefits that the shea & cocoa butter have. Refined is when they strip the product of all of it's wonderful qualities and aroma.:sad2:

It is important to buy your butters at a reputable dealer since all butters are a little different and handled differently.

I have been buying mine from WSP and have not seen any bugs.

I also have been told that some sheas bother one of my client's skin when used on her face and this unrefined shea did not.

Some people do not like the smell, but it is a natural smell. If they don't like it then I make them a butter with more mango butter instead and then you can't smell the shea as much but still get some benefits.

I LOVE body butter! I don't have any need for lotion anymore since I have been using body buttter. I just Love it!:cheesy2:

  9. Natures garden has just got in all new natural bases sls free. I just ordered , natural oatmeal, natural cocoabutter and natural soya milk. to give them a try...should be here in a day or so.

OH yeah you are right. I just looked again and they didn't have those when I was looking before. I looked at all of the natural soaps they have and only 3 had the germall plus(soya & goats milk and yogurt). Let me know how they work for you. I may add my own goats milk to one of them like the natural shea :)

I would love to start ordering my soap from NG since I buy my fragrances there.

  10. There are a couple without germall plus preservative soychic :)

I know, but NG's other natural m&P soap had the SLS and I don't want that either.

But I will probably try the type with the germall preservative.

I may also buy some of the SFIC soap at Brambleberry and the lizuid soap too. $7/2# seems like alot though for the soap.

  11. Adding more than approx. 2 tbls of additional oil or liquid to your melt and pour will cut down on your lather and the integrity of your soap. Almost every soap base manufacturer has those stipulations somewhere.

Vegetable glycerin is not a lather booster. It doesn't hurt to add it, I do as a medium to mix my micas and such, but it doesn't affect lather, in my experience.

Have you ever tried SFIC bases? They are plain old 100% soap. No propylene glycol or unnecessary chemicals one can't pronounce. Great, great base. Their goat's milk, shea butter, honey and olive oil bases are some I always have in stock.

No I never tried SFIC bases, where is the best place to purchase them.

Thanks for the info, I thought I read somewhere that glycerin increased lather.

  12. Yeah, my supplies have pretty much invaded my office, a cabinet in the kitchen, part of the closet in the back bedroom, and DH made some more shelves for me in my pantry downstairs. What started out as a simple hobby (candles and now soap) has turned into a major addiction. Hi, my name is Jan and I am a FoHo... :laugh2:

    Hi Jan,

I would have to agree. Once you start buying all of those different FO's for one thing, you start to think of different ways to use them and it just goes on & on. I started out with candles, then soap, salts, and body butter is my favorite:)))))) I was just telling my husband that he needs to start adding more shelves in my work area.

    SoyChic :cheesy2:

Soychic, may I ask why the preservative is a negative? Does it make the base behave differently or just isn't the best thing for your skin?

Well, I learned that you do not need to add preservatives to soap...so why do it. I just like to avoid them if possible. I will probably continue buying the natural goats milk from WSP to use without fragrance and preservative since it foams & lathers nicely. But if I end up liking the soap from NG, I will use it with for the soaps for your body. OR I could just try adding vegetable glycerine to the WSP soap to add more lathering qualities.

And a general question for everybody. Is all M&P soap very slippery in the shower? It's like trying to hold onto a greased pig. Mine goes airborne quite a bit because I'm holding the bar so tight. Oh well, if anything, it keeps my dogs entertained.

    J

As for the slippery soap, yes I have that problem too!:laugh2:

  13. The first batch I used Jojoba Oil because that was what I had on hand, but for the second batch, I used Sweet Almond Oil and it really made a big difference. It seems to glide and spread better. Perfect!

  14. I certainly will. I'm doing some soaping tomorrow and making some sugar scrub cubes so I'll post results. I got two pounds of the all natural goats milk and two of the all natural yogurt.

I know what you mean about more supplies... I'm cleaning out my storage closet in the guest room and I'm on my second day of organizing! Wonder who put all that stuff in my closet!:laugh2:

I was wondering about their new natural goats milk soap too!

I was glad they had vege glycerin in it for more lather but I was sad that they put the preservative in it. I will probably try it anyway because I want a soap with a little more lather. AND they have great prices.

I can't wait to hear your results kitchen fairy :smiley2:

  15. I just made my 2nd batch of sugar scrub cubes using Coco's recipe since the first one was such a hit!!

    Thanks Coco:)))))))

I am going to package them in 8oz plastic hex jars and offer refill bags.:yay:
