Sorry to jump in the middle of your conversatioon, but I just had to add my commentary. Real sorry you had to melt down all of that finished product. I don't know if I could have done that. Hats off to you.
I had to the money that would have cost me to just throw away :angry2: between wax , FO , jars .....
Don't be sorry about jumping in ...that's what this is all about

I certainly get that now. I always burn them before customers purely out of excitement for the seasonal change and because I can't wait . I guess I should be doing that before I make 150 pounds of spring scents ... :embarasse
-
That's what my problem was .... Wicking. Ashamed to say but I never check each batch of wax . I never had to . Been doing this for years . New scents new colors of course but I never thought to test tried and true formulas. Lesson learned the hard way . I had to melt down 150 lbs of finished product slowly and start over .it was horrible I stressed for days . Was much more relaxed after I was sure they still had a great scent throw .
Would you mind sharing your procedure for testing new cases of wax? I am assuming you make one candle of a known good candle and that's it I hope .
Also curious what is the lot number on your boxes mine is c 10/17/12

Mine weren't testers they were formulas I have used for years . that's why i am so baffled . Sadly thy will all be testers now

just got off the phone with CS I am the first to call though she was very pleasant there really isn't anything to do other than wait for the next lot .my lot is from 10/12

Im having a horrible time with my last batch of candles. Using 415 as well. tried and true formulas I have used for years are not working. I remelted my stock and wicked up and am still struggling. Until I read this I was certain my wicks came mis marked ,driving me crazy . I have 100 pounds left . mine was from candle science . who I love by the way .
whats the date on your boxes of wax ?

Thank you both for replying ... @sliver of wax....I don't want Anyone's secrets and I research plenty . @ black tie affair . Yes I have been making candles dipped critters and now some soap for about 6 years . I am looking for steps all the things you mention . I am not sure which comes first and what is legitimately needed to sell at home parties and craft shows and to stores. When I look into it most things are for opening an actual store which is not my intention . Again thank you

any crafters from nj?
i want to start a ligit business but don't know where begin . any help would be appreciated . i want to do craft shows and home parties .
-
I agree ...that seems to be my biggest problem . Thanks again
-
How wide are they ? And thanks for replying
-
I can't get them to burn evenly . they float for a couple of hours then start to tip as the wick curls . they stay lit for a long time but look ridiculous .
-
2% of the wax composition would be 1.28 oz additive and 62.72 oz palm for a total of 64 oz (4 lb) wax.
That's Where i screw up I did 4lbs of wax and 1.28 additive
-
Additives
The addition of stearic acid as 2% of the wax composition
is my math correct ? 2% of 4 pounds is 1.28 ozs

do you need a coupon code?

I am almost done burning my first glass glow . I used csn . They are not curling . They look like little straight pointed nothings . It is very weird.

my 2 CSN14 are doing good so far. My new CDN12 is looking ok but It is only burn 2. I called CS they won't make them longer I would have to make my own
-
crappy flame darn.
My CSN14 are getting small so I can only imagine ....
I just wicked two eco10s I have never seen them burn before so this is going to be a new one for me .

The wick tips over, or the wick tab moves? The wicks tabs don't always land dead center for me unless I flatten the bottom of the candle.
The move all the way to the other side and kinda tip over .This morning they must have fallen over cause they are out and I can't see the wick and there is still wax in the holder. Thanks
-
Thank you so much. It is nice to hear when you work so hard.
FYI CDN 14 blew out. I am melting it down and using a CDN 12 The CSN14 still look ok.
On the 4inch Pillar TheCSN22 is looking good as well.

I'm not sure how wicks fall over...are they not tabbed properly?
I think so they are the CSN9. they don't stay centered and as the candle melts they move all the way to one side.
I probably just need practice . thanks

So I really understand... if i have 20 some odd spring and summer scents You would make 20 candles 1 of each scent , burn them to the end , and then proceed with your stock ? I use 6 different containers 3 of the 6 are the same diameter but still , holy molly
thanks for sharing
