  1. Hi,

I've made 3 batches of CP Olive Oil, Coconut Oil & Shea Butter soap. I now have more Coconut Oil & Shea Butter but I used all my Pomace Olive Oil. Would I be able to substitute regular Olive Oil for Pomace Olive Oil.

    Thanks

  2. Hi,

I make balloon candles all the time at a Museum. I found using a plastic container to pour the wax into, cools the wax a bit. I dip the balloon into the wax about 10 times. I also cool the wax by dipping it into a bucket of cool water, dry it off and dip into the liquid wax. If I am making a luminary, I sit the balloon on a tray to cool with the water in it. If I am making a solid candle, I snip the balloon out and empty the water. I fill it with dry pellets of beeswax then pour in liquid wax with a scent. It combines the waxes. I let it cool and wick it. I now have a ball of scented beeswax. I like to drip colors over it or carve into layers of different colors.

It's really fun, They turn out great. It can look elegant or fun. It's all how you decorate it.

  3. Hi,

I found pigment color blocks clog the wick. I changed to liquid color thinking it would not clog the wick. I have yet to test my candles. 30 drops doesn't sound like a lot of color for 5lbs of wax. Is there a % of color to wax or does it depend on the color you are using?

    Thanks,

  4. Hi,

I built a very easy wax table out of sheet metal. I gently folded it into a rectangular box. The tub fits on a grill. I had one small crack that I patched with silicone. I fill the tub with water and set 6, 3 quart pouring pots filled, with colored wax. I do all my candle making out side. It's compact and easy to transport. I am able to make rolled, dipped, molded and container candles.

  5. I work at a museum. I make dipped, rolled, balloon candles. and I have just started making container candles. I use a pigment color for overdip. It works great in all my candles except the container candles. The pigment clogs the wick, and the flame is very small and sometimes goes out . I now add no color and my container candles are by far the brightest.

  6. Hi,

I just started using fragrance in my containers. What is the approximate

measurement of FO in an 8oz jar. I'm using 50/50 paraffin/beeswax and vibrant from Swans. I added 1/2 t. FO and stirred it in till the wax cooled a bit. It poured and set very well the flame was good. Later checked the room and there was no scent at all.

  7. I've learned that I actually don't want to have my own business. I hate the paperwork, I hate the taxes, fees, etc., and I hate that I turned a craft that I loved doing into a job that I feel slave to.

I love though that I can chalk it up as a life experience and lesson learned and will know in the future that I'm a better employee than owner/boss!! So many people wish they had their own business, at least I can say I did, and now I choose not to :)

    Hi,

I have a paid by the hour job and I have my candle business also. It keeps things from being boring. My paid by the hour job pays my bills. The candles are always a surprise and keep me thinking. It's a good part time job.

  8. Hi,

I was able to relieve a migraine by drinking plenty of fluids. I make a tea: 1T. fresh grated ginger boiled in 1c. water, than strained. Add pomegranate juice or fresh squeezed lemon and honey. It's a good antioxidant.

Your ears may also be absorbing the scents. Daily or every other day rinsing the ears with 50/50 water and peroxide will cleanse the ears. Be sure to dry them well. A drop of rubbing alcohol will dry the inner most area.
