  1. Does somebody of you have a kind of bonus system, a reward system for your customers? I'm thinking of offering something of that kind, maybe bonus point with each purchase.

It is difficult to do other things as your competitors, but you have to, otherwise people won't even look at your products.

I do have some very loyal costumers who will buy regularly year after year, but here in Germany we have - of course - Partylite and Yankee, and here people want to have a name on their products. They don't want no-name, so to say.

I find that people favor products with a name rather than products that are either good for the environment or good for their skin. It doesnt hurt to give new things a try.

  2. Can anyone tell me how to break this recipe down to where I can make 1/2 of it for testing without make a big mess of it?

    Silky Body Butter

    2 lbs cocoa butter

    1 lb mango butter

    1 lb beeswax

    16 oz SAO

    .8 oz silk amino acids

    .8 oz Dryflo

    3.2 oz FO

    .4 oz Vit E T-50

It is supposed to make 20 4 oz jars

Could I sub the beeswax for candelilla wax?

    Any help will be appreciated.

  3. Has anyone ordered any from them lately? They have a great sale going on with this. They will be discontinuing the product. The discount is deep and it just got me to wondering about the quality.

I am not sure if we are allowed to post links here. If not, please let me know.

    Thanks in advance

  4. I started with melt and pour myself and used to buy the base from Micheal's that is Life of the Party brand, then I used to buy random melt and pour from suppliers and then really loved SFIC brand (the regular clear and white, not the low sweat as it doesn't last as long) due to the ingredients.

Also have tried Stephenson's which is good but I prefer SFIC but both of those aren't cheap unless you buy it in bigger sizes. Once you start experimenting you will find a brand you like and everyone prefers something different. To this day I still do melt and pour but learned hot process from a friend years ago and then taught myself CP through library books and a tonne of experimenting and reading soap forums for information.

Melt and Pour is the way to start in my opinion if you want to keep costs lower and be able to make soap quickly, plus you can get very creative with it as well. There are tonnes of sites of there for melt and pour and I order from Canadian suppliers but you could try:

Don't forget to share your pictures with us when you make your first batch. I'm sure you will be hooked in no time.

Here are a few inspiring melt and pour sites for you to look at to see what you can eventually do with melt and pour:

The pictures on flickr are just amazing. She does awesome work.

  5. I have been using Dr. Bronner's mild baby soap to mix with my FO/EO. The oil always seem to rise to the top. It leaves a weak scent behind after I scrape off the oil that floated to the top.

Should I be adding water to the Dr. Bronner soap before I mix in my EO/FO?

  6. Ok I have a question after reading all the posts on this thread. If trade shows are not what they used to be, how will you promote your products to bring in revenue?

It really breaks my heart to read these kinds of posts. :sad2: I hate to hear that folks are disappointed after lots of hard work and preparation. I am new to this and I love creating the products that I make but it's kind of discouraging to hear that those who have been doing it longer than myself are hurting/struggling.

    Stay encouraged.

  7. Hello Everyone....Is there such a thing as all natural melt and pour? Without the parabens and sulfates? If so, where would I find a base or a recipe?

Also, is fractioned coconut oil ok to use with essential oil or fragrance oil for a body spray or in rollettes?

    Thanks
