  1. Hey all,

I'm wanting to make my hubby some hunting soaps. He's wanting a pine and vanilla scent.

I'm looking for a straight pine and vanilla fragrance, nothing blended in with them. Do you know of any suppliers that would carry something like this?

    I appreciate your help!

  2. Hey all,

I did a search and couldn't find an answer to my question.

I got my shaving soap base in today and wanted to mix in a little bit with my reg white base to see how that would work in terms of lather.

What's a good ratio to start out with?

    30% shaving

    70% white?

    Thanks!

  3. Dolphin,

Let me know how you like their body frosting! As soon as I get tax $$$ I'm going to be buying a boatload of samples from them (frosting included)

I'm glad they were able to sort everything out for you!

I got my goats Milk and White soap bases from EBC Saturday :yay: I can't wait to try them. But I have to wait I also ordered some new FO'S and some body frosting from them. And for some reason the soap came all 80lbs but my jars FO'S and body frosting are missing. Darn post office. I emailed EBC and they are looking into it for me. Darn I sure hope they find out were my other stuff went. :( But I do have to say EBC has great customer service they got back to me right away.

  4. I am torn between the white and the goat's milk soap. Which one is better? i know i am ordering the clear b/c I want to do the flower soap pouf.

You'll have so much fun with the flower soap pouf! I know I did! I can't wait to make my next batch!

  5. Yes, the shea butter base, it's very nice. I'm now just buying her while and GM however and adding my own shea butter, which I also buy from her, lol!

I like the idea of adding my own butters and oils, makes me feel like I'm creating something.

That's what I'm doing now with the white SFIC. I know I sound crazy when I say this, but I'm just not that impressed with it and I'm wanting to try something new. I plan on trying EBC's white. I know their coco butter MP base is new so I was just curious if anyone had tried it yet :)

  6. Hey all :)

I may be a day late and a dollar short, but I wanted to share this great find with you all.

I found this little slow cooker at an Aldi's here in town for $8.99! I make small batches, so this is just perfect for me. It holds 1.5 quarts and has three settings: Low, High and Auto.

I can't wait to fire it up!

  7. Not to totally hijack the thread, but K, nice avatar! I love Totoro :)

Isn't 1 tablespoon per pound of fragrance oil about 3% ?

Information I've seen states.... When labeling your product, additives incorporated at 3% should be listed after Glycine Soja (Soybean) Protein... (at least for the type of melt and pour I use).

Ruina states that she uses about 1/2 tsp per 4 ounces which would be 2 tsp per pound.

So if you use 1 tablespoon of fragrance oil per pound wouldn't you list the ingredients for the castile soap after fragrance?

The ingredients for Dr Bronners unscented castile soap are...

water, saponified organic coconut & organic olive oils (w/retained glycerin), organic hemp oil, organic jojoba oil, citric acid, vitamin E.

Would you list all that after the fragrance? Or.... besides being organic, some of those ingredients are already in the melt and pour base.... so would you only list the ingredients that are not already in the base(for example hemp and jojoba oil) after fragrance?

Please let me know if I'm completely wrong... I have just started working with mp 4 months ago (newbie).

  8. I really need to get some of this! The only unscented dr bronner's soap I've found is the baby soap formula. Is that what you dr bronner's users use?

I'm also curious on how to label it with the ls added.

  9. Thanks ya'll! I got the idea from here http://www.candletech.com/soap-making/flowering-loofa-soaps/

I caught a great deal on the poufs from Essentials by Catalina a long time ago. I think I got 48 of the assorted colors for like $12. Wish they had put some blue in there though. :sad2: I've also seen the same ones in 6 packs at my local dollar tree for $1.

I was really happy how these turned out. The first two I made didn't work out as well as I had hoped... so those are testers for me LOL. I just used a regular non stick muffin pan, filled it 3/4 way full of my soap, put the pouf in there and then put the remaining soap down through the middle of the pouf.

They were really fun and easy to make! Can't wait to see how they sell for me!

That's where I got my poofs, at the Dollar Tree. I can't wait to try mine out! I hope they turn out that good!

  10. So a friend of mine asked me if there is a product out there that can moisturize both hands and lips. I've only really tapped into melt and pour soaping, so I have no idea about balms or lotions at the moment.

She's looking for a product that can be used on both hands and lips to moisturize.

    Is this possible?

  11. Hey all,

I haven't really read much on here about these two oils and I'm a little curious about them..

Do any of you use these in your soaps? How do they work in MP? Have you ever used them together? How much do you normally use in 1lb of base?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm in an experimenting mood and if they worked well, I might try some out!

    Thanks in advance!!!
