J-50 is a superior wax to both, if you can live with the wet spots.

Bergamot Tobacco is the same as Havana (ask them if you don't believe me..LOL...same fragrance in two different collections). Brenda has a dupe, but, it's not close at all. The best I've tried is from Belle Aire. DEAD on.

It doesn't sound like claims are being made. Some wicks, I've found (like Eco's, for example) work MUCH better than others in burning tougher oils and/or higher levels of fragrance load. Maybe it's the wick construction but, Eco's seem to be the ONLY wicks that have burned some of my tougher, higher load oils/candles without drowning (and I've tried every wick under the sun...haven't tried these Aroma Lite ones yet).

But, I don't think they are making claims. Just simply that maybe because of their construction they are able to burn tougher oils. Call them up and ask for some samples. They are usually pretty generous.

has anyone tried contacting them to see if they will tell us where they were getting their oils? If they are going out of business (Versus being bought out), there is no harm to them in telling us.

This is probably a really stupid question and I'm hoping that being a newbie, you guys won't laught at me but, is there any sort of machine that can be purchased, which will measure scent throw or strength, objectively?

What is the perk of buying a base instead of making your own??

Just wondering. I have never made.

I would say convenience probably, assuming you find a good quality base that is to your liking.

I have to agree. 4627 wins for cold throw but if you are looking for hot throw, there isn't a better wax than J50. J50 will throw just about anything you put in it. It beat 4627 pretty easily in my book in terms of hot throw. And it's a whole lot easier to work with.

I've tried at least a dozen. My all time favorite is from Aquatech.
