  1. I use the C3 all the time and have had that problem in the past. I also had problems with not all the dye blending in completely. I would poor my candles and the next day I would see the FO coming to the top and some times specs of die in the wax. I was able to cure it mostly by heating the wax to 180 before adding any thing especially the FO. I also stirr it alot right up to when i pour it. That seemed to get rid of most of the problems. Ocassionally I still get it but not as often. One strange thing i have seen is I don't get the FO bleeding problem right away. Some times I'll see it a couple weeks later. I think room temp has some thing to do with that and where I was storing them, near a heater vent.

  2. I started by first buying and selling Candles that were returns from a number 1 home shopping network. They sold fast and at a good price. But they were and are terrible candles. They burn straight down the middle and leave a ton of wax in the jar. Although they do put out alot of aroma and smell very nice. Probably why they sell so well. The claim was they are 100 percent Soy Wax and natural. Some othersd I had got from a friend looked alot different and burned almost all of the wax. I know now the ones I was selling were a blend and not even close to 100 percent Soy Wax. The ones my friend made smelled better and the texture was different. Hers were made at home and were actually Soy.

I had an accident at work and was laid up for a few months and needed some thing to do. I liked the soy candles so I decided to try and make some. I figured it would be easy and cheap but it was neither. Then I started to really like making them and experimenting with them and then I was hooked on it and still am. Now I make them from all types of waxes. I have also found a way to make them in my truck. I use a Burton 12 volt stove to melt the wax. http://www.cetsolar.com/12vstove.htm . There are pans that go inside them. Just put water in the stove and a pan on top and it works just fine except it wil get the wax to hot so I have to be careful. Then I pour it in the jar or mold. It does make the truck smell good, to good some times.

Now my wife is going to try it out so she'll be hooked very soon also.

  3. This one is Sweet Pea. I like how the layer turned out a little blended and not as distinct like most. I'm kind of likeing the heat gun. :D The top kind of frosted but i can fix that. :)

It was made withsome left over wax from yesterday and a few weeks ago.

  4. This one looks good if it didn't have a bazillion air bubbles. I think I poured to hot. So it's getting cut in half and going back in the pot for a retry. You can see the bubbles in the pic below. Plus I didn't want a distinct layer like it has. I do like how the heat gun makes it lumpy.

  5. That is really amazing!! Did you wrap the whole mold in the icepack then pour the layers regularly?? I am trying to get my mind around this technique. The affect you achieved is really stunning and I would like to try it.

I wrapped the whole mold in an ice pack and had to change it a couple of times because they kept warming up. It really takes a while to make because it has 14 layers and the sides setup alot faster than the middle. There's also 5 different shades of color.

    Thanks for the good replies.

  6. This one is Cappucino brulee. I wrapped the mold in an ice pack to get the layered affect. It looks like it will break but it won't. The middle is solid.

I've made a few this way and they all turned out close to the same. Let me know what you think.

  7. Hi, I have used the C-3 quite a bit. I'm now looking at some other waxes also. It does get sink holes around the wick even when poured slowly and at a cooler temp. They can be fixed with a heat gun but then you have to deal with frosting. Some times it takes a bit of work to make the tops look nice. It's also unpredictable. Some times it will snow flake like crazy on the sides and some times it won't. Even with the same FO's and dye.
