  1. Personally even $5900 is a lot in today's economy. It would be much cheaper to buy her recipe (if you insist on using it) and then buying fresh oils, molds and going from there. You might be able to use some of her packaging but even that has to be in good shape.

Are any of her customer contacts worthwhile? Is she still doing business or are these all old clients? A wholesale account or two would make this more appealing but if you basically procuring your own clients, then why not start fresh. $5900 can buy alot. Be careful with your money.

  2. After a week of deliberating, I decided to go back to WSP to get a gallon of the base that I love. I feel like the scorned woman that caught her hubby cheating but she is still trying to make it work. And of course, I find out that the sale that they were offering (part of the settlement deal in my mind) is gone!!!!:angry2::angry2::angry2:

I'll admit it. I'm weak. I really don't want to deal with WSP since their business practices sicken me but for the moment I have to. Sigh. I hate that I have to do a ton of research to find a new supplier.

  3. I just checked the site (I was comparing their prices to a new supplier that I had in mind) and noticed that single gallon lotion bases are now 20% off. Maybe all of the online complaint and emails have been working. While its tempting, I'm not sure how long it will last. I'm still kindof leary.

  4. I have a 3 yr old and was afraid of the same thing. What I do now is I do all of my soaping when either 1) he is napping 2) there is someone else in the house to divert his attention or 3) wait until I put him to bed. I keep meaning to get up early in the morning to soap but that just hasn't happened yet.

I have one of those large popcorn cans that I use to keep my lye in. It is triple bagged and sits on the highest shelf in the house. This way I never have to worry about my ds' little grubby hands getting into it. My soaping gloves are a bright orange. Everytime I put them on, my ds knows that its soaping time and to leave Mommy alone. I soap on my enclosed front porch (door open though). Then all of my mixing is done in my kitchen sink. I was nervous the first batch and then kicked myself for waiting so long. It really isn't hard to do as long as you follow basic safety precautions.

I am currently planning on baby #2 and plan on bribing family and friends with more soap when I need a break. Hope this helps.

  5. I get my labels from there also. I tried to use Word and they didn't come out right. I used Avery DesignPro and have not had any problems since. I even had to call Labels by the sheet customer service to walk me through making an oval label. No problems ever since.

  6. Edward smells like honey, sunshine and flowers. I would imagine the traditional/old vampire smells more like dirt and incense *shrug*.

:laugh2:I'm all for literary interpretation but REALLY??? I mean I know he glistens in the sun and all but :shocked2:. By the way, NG's bite me smells more like Cherry Kool Aid. I have people that ask for it in lotion.

  7. Candlemama, I just wanted to say how much fun you are going to have with all of this. I was scared to death the first time and then I got HOOKED FAST. It seems like a lot at first but just get into the habit of following some simple safety precautions and it will turn out fine. There is a wealth of information on this board (and the millersoap site) so experiment and research away.

  8. I made my first batch and everything turned out fine. My only issue is that it came out partially gelled. It's been 3 days since I have taken it out the mold to cure. Is there anything I can do to make it completely gel? Is it too late? I know this is really an aesthetics issue but just wondering.

  9. I live by this motto "At the end of the day, I lay down with myself". Meaning that you can do anything you like, listen to anyone's advice/opinions but at the end of the day, you are accountable to yourself. Something may sound like a great idea but can make you feel like a crappy person. Is it really worth it? Your morals and actions make and define who you are. If it is really no big deal, then do it. If you feel like you are robbing or stealing from someone else, then don't. Follow your heart.
