Ok I have been making wax tarts/melts for going on a year. Have literally tested a few from every batch I make. Not only do I test them but I have other people test them. Well I get an email from this lady who bought some from me on ebay for a charity auction I participated in. She stated that after 20mins or so once the tart was fully melted it started making a cracking/popping sound. I emailed her asking her for more details because I have never ever had this happen to me or anyone else I have given tarts to. I use natures gardens 100% soy wax and their fragrence oils. What in the world would have caused this? All the tarts she received were made approx 2 months ago and they were the rest of the ones I had left after using and giving away. I burned probably 4 a day in my own house and like I said never had issues. Help!!

That lady must have been at the craft show my best friend did last weekend. Made comments about her stuff and had a mouth like a sailor. Thankfully she was up a few booths but made it a point to walk by quite often and then even sent her husband over to the booth to buy something for my friend lol

I shrink wrap each of my tarts then put them in a polypro bag with a label with the scent name on the front and then a warning label on the back. Shrink wrapping and then a polypro bag is probably overkill but oh well lol:p

Is there a place to purchase lip balm/chapstick kits? I would love to do this with our girls bible study group. It's a group of 18 girls ages 8 and 9. Was brain storming of a craft idea to go along with one of our lessons in Jan and thought this would be perfect since our lesson is about what comes out of our mouths. Thanks!

Honestly the best place I have found them is from the Dollar Tree. I know if you need large quantities you can order from them also at least there is a sign that says it on ours. I must own like a dozen of the wamers personally from there and that is also what my friends buy for themselves or gifts. I am hoping they get some Christmas ones in. They had really pretty summer/spring ones in along with the usual solid colors so crossing fingers they get holiday ones in. Also check out on here to see if anyone is running a co-op if you are looking for electric/plug in ones and not just your standard tart warmers.

I think it was here a long time ago that I got that idea. I just take the plastic or cardboard part off, open the tampon up a tad then dip in wax a few times. Because these are just for us to use for the firepit and such I remelt my wax tarts that are no longer throwing any scent and just use those. So between the dollar store cheapo tampons and basically free wax I have a cheap firestarter. As much as dh wouldn't like to admit it, he can not start a fire to save his life and with these he has no problem, doesn't even need newspaper to "help". lol

New(unused rofl) tampons work great also. Dh couldn't start a fire without them. Dip a couple times in wax and you already have a nice long wick to burn.

I just use NG's 100% soy, never had a problem really with it releasing from molds. It has an awesome hot and cold throw for me.

I do dye my tarts and I would rather not but I find that white ones don't sell as well. People like to match the colors to their rooms/house. I use the dye blocks from NG's. I really like how nicely it "melts". I have tried some others and I am always left with color specks that didn't fully dissolve so I am going to stick with NG's. Maybe one of these times I will try the liquid dye.

For my tarts I do use a double boiler. Really my list of supplies is fairly simple, double broiler, digital scale, candy thermometer, a couple SS spoons and my tart molds.

http://stores.ebay.com/uniquepacking is where I get mine

Ditto...I sniffed it last week too and all I can say is OMG! The 'icing' smells like buttercream to me so maybe a pumpkin and buttercream blend?!
Oh I wonder.....hmm you go first lol

Oh my word I smelled this from yan*** and I LOVE it. Anyone know of a close dupe to it? I have Pumpkin Crunch from NG's and I love that but this is one that I love more.

Love pumpkin crunch, did not like Best Friends at all and the Amish friendship is ok, just not what I thought it would be. I won't buy it again.

I use NG 100% soy right now and I melt to 175, add color, then frag. Stir for a good 2 mins then pretty much let it cool down to 120 (with a few stirs here and there) then I pour. I made one batch last week that had the sink holes in it for some reason then the next day my friend and I made 7 more batches and they were perfect, go figure lol. I don't like to pour cooler than 120 because then it gets too thick and I get yucky looking tops.

I know some were asking about cheap tart burners and I have a whole house full of ones from the Dollar Tree. I have my fair share of ones from yank** also but I like the $1 ones a lot better. I have some in solid colors(white, brown, black) and then have some really pretty ones that are very girly/springy/summery. For a $1 you can't beat them and I have my friends and family hooked on them also. I bought a bunch of solid ones last year and used them for teacher gifts. That being said I am still on the hunt for a few small plug ins for our bathrooms.

Forgive me please if this isn't the correct place to ask but where can I find those electric melt warmers that actually plug in like a night light and use a night light type bulb to melt the wax? I have seen a couple on ebay but never in the color or style I am looking for. These would be great in my bathrooms but I can't find who makes them or carries them!! Thanks for any help you can give

Ack all those letters and numbers which I assume mean different types of wax have this newbie confused lol

I personally love thier frag oils, then again they are the only ones I have ever bought. It seems like every single one has had awesome hot and cold throw so I just haven't felt the need to go elsewhere. They also have super fast shipping(I placed a big order late Tues night, it shipped out Wed and I had it at my door on Thursday.-I was impressed!)

Can someone share with me on how you clean your molds with the heatgun? Right now I just make melts/tarts. The melts release from the mold really well but occasionally they leave a thin film of wax in some spots. Would I turn the mold over and heat it upside down for the wax to drip out on a paper towel or something?? Please clue me in lol thanks!!

I think this has become my favorite bathroom scent. I LOVE it. I used 1oz pp of NG's soy wax and it's perfect. Ok back to your regular posting, just wanted to share lol.
-
You probably already have them out by now lol but I use 100% NG soywax and they come out of my molds just fine. If I have any that are being stubborn and look like they are not going to come out then I pop them in the freezer for a few minutes and then they basically fall out. I don't use any kind of mold release spray.
-
Where can I find this?? I feel like I have searched everywhere. lol

I use NG's 100% soy wax then add about 1½-2oz of beeswax per lb of soy wax. Even without the beeswax they came out of their molds just fine but I wanted them a little harder so adding the beeswax seemed to do the trick.

I asked her if she washed the burner she stated no. Because I was wondering if water got in the wax somehow. The one she is having problems with I have burned numerous of the same ones, same batch myself and never had issues. I am just clueless. She said she is using the tea lights from Yankee. I asked for a picture of her "set up" and she said no lol. I told her I would replace the tart at my expense, she declined. I don't know what else to do. I don't really sell the tarts, because it's family and friends that I give them to and they just cover my costs. I do have tart warning labels on all tarts to cover myself and because I don't know if anyone in my family or my friends would share the tarts with their friends ect. so I like that simple security knowing they at least all have warning labels on them. I don't know like I said I am clueless and baffled on her issues she is having.
