  1. I've been a member for a couple of years now...not much of a 'poster' though ... but I have to say I can always count on being inspired by you Scented!

I keep coming back to this image, so I guess it's time for me to try it out. I especially like the lines, they are unique.... like all of your creations :D

I only have mottling wax on hand, but that might lend a nice look/contrast to the lines.

I'm only guessing on how you created the lines, and what I try may not work, but I appreciate the inspiration, thank you!

  2. I just finished reading this thread and I can say I was entertained. Obviously I don't post that often (member for two years and only 12 posts) I usually have very little time to play here but I just have to say that I laughed the most at Comfortscents comments.

Strap your heat guns on, she called you out! "...push away from the keyboard and show us what you've really got..again wax wise...man of words or man of action?"

    :spit:

This board definately keeps you on your toes!

Welcome to candle making (once you get started) and good luck!

PS... I lived in AZ for over five years (Nogales and Lukeville) and I too have been to Tombstone, Bisbee, Naco, Sierra Vista, Grand Canyon to name a few. I wouldn't mind heading back some day to visit. Enjoy!

  3. Wow, great! I have 57 different acrylic paints, 12 of which are Outdoor, and 12 are enamels for the glass. I know that there is candle paint out there, but on a quick glance I figured it was pretty cheesy.... I never thought to use just my regular acrylics on the candles.

This is good to know, I'm running into town today so I will grab some glaze and start to play, thanks for the help!

  4. Sorry to hear of your disappointment with your order WH.

I just ordered from them, got in on the 'wick builder' sale & saved 40% on my wicks. That sale was from Feb 2-8th (the same time you said you placed your order) so maybe there was a very large response to that sale which slowed down all orders. I know there was a disclaimer about orders with the wick-building would take longer than normal, but I don't know if that is a standard time disclaimer or just one for that sale.

I've ordered from them in the past and never had a problem with them. I'm in Northern VA and naturally get my orders fairly quickly compared to anyone on the Western side.

  5. I use coffee stir sticks---the red plastic kind---to drip my liquid color into the wax(because I didn't realize that the place I bought the color from didn't supply any way to drip it) and I use a circular glass tabletop from the little side tables as my pour spot. I prop my presto pot up, put the glass top next to it, put the votive cups on the glass and turn it like a lazy susan. It works like and assembly line, I open the tap and pour my votive, turn the glass, pour my next votive, turn....etc. The glass top that I have is from a broken sculpture table--the kind where the base is a ceramic lighthouse or animal, something like that---and the top screws onto the base. It works great for me and the clean up is a breeze, I just use a razor to scrape the wax drips off. I even spoon a small amount onto the glass to check out what the color looks like, and then just scrape it up and put it back into the pot. :)

  6. I've been playing with the idea of storing my candles in a vacuumed sealed bag....the food sealer bags. I know about the storage containers with the '5' on the bottoms, but we have one of these vacuum sealers and wanted to know if anyone has tried it or if anyone knows of why I shouldn't use it?

  7. Thanks folks :) The thinner the layers the quicker they set up, so doesn't take all that much time.

Jennie, the Tiger Eyes scent, ummm it's a warm and smooth scent and I've no idea what I could compare it to because I can't pick anything out of it, except I think there's some amber in it. The description off BCN isn't all that revealing lol!

    What site is BCN?
