  1. After a zillion hours and way too much money, I get my candles perfected and now my supplier has discontinued the wax I use and I can't find it anywhere!!

I use crystal palm wax and can find everything but! I tried a couple of other palm waxes and they are nowhere close to what I'm looking for. Now I see why all the posts about how hard palm wax is to use. These others are hard to work with and come out looking like a cheap candle.

Does anyone out there know where I can get "crystal palm wax"?? It looks like little wax pellets, not this granulated looking stuff!

Will keep my fingers crossed that someone knows where to find it!!

    Thanks,

    Anne

  2. Thanks everyone! I was hoping there was one I wouldn't have to do the relief holes, but kind of guessed there wasn't. Oh, well, it looks fantastic so I guess it's worth it!

Will try a white one this weekend and see what it looks like!

I've seen a lot of questions on here about wicks for Palm Wax. I have the best luck with LX30's from Candles and Supplies. I use an 18 oz jar with a 3" opening. I had some LX26's and they didn't quite make it so I double wicked some and used them. That works well also.

Am almost finished my website. Will show some pic's when it's done!

    Thanks again everyone!

  3. Thougt I'd ask the pro's :)

1.) I'm looking for a good lilac scent. I used Candle Science but wasn't thrilled with that. Anyone recommend one....for palm wax.

2.) Does the glass glow palm wax require relief holes? I'm using the crystal palm wax from Candles & Supplies and love the look etc. but the relief holes and second pour take a lot of time.

3.) How do you do a white candle? Just don't add any color?? Yeah, I'm a rookie!!

    Thanks,

    Anne

  4. Just to clarify so you all don't think I'm crazy....My State Farm Agent had given me a price, we paid the premium, he said I'd get the paperwork in the mail...then called and said he couldn't do it. He did say I'd be covered until Dec. 23rd but now I'm scrambling trying to find coverage before the 23rd.

Like I don't have enough else to do right now......

Hope there are some other Maryland candle makers out there!!

    Thanks,

    Anne

  5. Finally made one I like and thought I'd share....

I used Crystal Container Palm Wax from Candles and Supplies in PA. Heated to 200 and poured at 180. Was having trouble keeping the wick down so tried pouring just a little to cover the bottom, waited a couple of minutes then poured the rest. I didn't heat the jars they were just at room temp. I used their German Coreless LX30 wick with a jar 3 1/2-4 diameter and am happy with the results. I'm getting the same type burn as I've read about here...digs a little bit of a hole but looked pretty as it burned and it caught up after a couple of hours! Am getting a good throw with 1 oz FO per lb. Used 3 sage green color chips and got a decent color but think I'm going to try liquid color next time for a deeper shade but the feathered look is beautiful and NO wet spots!!

It's been burning for 8 hrs. and has burned just close enough to the sides to leave a thin layer on the glass which looks "really pretty" with the light showing through.

  6. Wow! Am I glad I found this site! Lot's of great information!

What am I doing wrong that my second pour always comes out looking a little darker than the first. I'm still experimenting with what wax to use but it doesn't seem to matter as far as this goes. It's happened on all of them.

After the first pour I set my pour pitcher aside and don't reheat it until I'm ready to do the second pour.

    Thanks ~ Anne
