  1. Can someone lead me in the right direction??!! I am looking for "unbleached natural cotton wicks." When someone says they use this type of wick, does someone know which wick that would be.. I know they are not HEMP wicks... they do not look the same.. They seem to be round (not square)

    Thank you

    Willow

  2. Can anyone give me a idea of where to look? When you see that a candle is made with a unbleached natural cotton wick.. what wick they may be talking about? I do not think it is the Hemp wick. It is a round wick ... hmm I would appreciate any info.

    Thanks

    Willow

  3. Double checking to make sure I am understanding this right... :D

Ok I am making 2 (4oz) tins... I have weighted them and the liquid weight that will fit into the tins is 3.2 (each one) So a total of 6.4 oz

Now I want to make my candles 7% load, Using 2 different waxes one at 80% and one at 20%, I am adding 3% BW... Ok this is what I came up with

    4.61 oz of 1st wax (80%)

    1.15 oz 2nd wax (20%)

    .44 oz FO (7%)

    .2 oz BW (3%

    ___________

    6.4 oz total weight

    IS THIS RIGHT :o

THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR HELP.....

  4. top,

Do I always divide by .89... like you said a 16 oz candle would be 17.98 wax for starters...???

This is what I did earlier

I was going to figure 1 Lb of wax (doing 5- 4oz tins) anyway

I wanted 8% Fo load, and 3% BW (skipped the additive this time)

So I tared the scale and measured out .48 oz of BW, and added to that until I got 16 oz of wax...when wax was melted I added 1.3 oz fo

hmmm wonder if I did it right??!!!! Betcha I didnt' :o .. anyway I am printing out all the info.. so I can study it:D

The tins hold 3.2 oz of liquid... so if I took that x 5 (for the 5 tins I want to fill) so it would be 16 oz.. So I think I would subtract the fo and Bw % from there.... so lets see 8% Fo would be 1.25 , the Bw would be 3 % at .48.. so subtract all those from 16 oz and I would actually use 14.27 oz of wax IS THAT CORRECT??

    THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!!!:cheesy2:

  5. Ok I am very confused here. I have done alot of searches for this and it is not sinking into my brain.

If I want to use 1 LB of wax, I want my candles to be at 7% Fo load, but I also want to add lets say 3% BW and 1 tsp additive also..HOW do I figure out all the amounts of each ingredient to add...???? Such as how do I figure out how much BW to add, additive to add, and the Fo???? I APPRECIATE HELP

  6. NatureWax C-3 gives us fantastic, consistent performance overall. Proper wicking and high quality FOs make a huge difference also. Wihth the good, consistent results we have obtained using this wax, we don't even consider trying anything else... if a product is giving one excellent results, unless one is just into experimenting, why would one consider anything else?:D

This is a question that has been asked/answered many times before. Searching the forum might give you more responses. ;)

    STELLA,

DO YOU HAVE A HELPFUL HINT ON ELIMINATING BUBBLES IN THIS WAX? When I burn the wax bubbles are popping up everywhere and they stay on the top, moving over to the side of the jar... I like the wax but not the bubbles... Do you add anything ?? I tried 1 TBS of BW per pound and that did not help? Thanks

  7. Willow...since you're familiar with the Peaks cotton wicks and RRD's could you tell me which size cotton would be equal to a RRD 40? That's the size I use the most so buying their sample pack seems like a waste of money for me.

    TIA...Arlene

    Arlene,

I am very new to this so I would not want to mislead you in any way. Call Peaks -- they are awesome there and they will for sure help you. They sell both wicks so they can give you wonderful advise. Thanks and sorry not to much help

  8. I think the HTP's curl to much. Have you all had a problem with them, or is it just me...I am looking more for a wick that burns straight. That is why I like the RRD's and Cotton core (from peaks.) So far I have tried the LX, CD, Hemp, Performa, HTP, RRD, Cotton Core, hmmmm I am sure there are more but am not thinking of any... Geez the darn wicks hehehhe. I am using the Ez Soy.

  9. I've made votives w/ EZ Soy for about 5 yrs. I've messed w/ different additives over the yrs & this is what I do now: 1 tsp PSA & .40oz beeswax per lb. The votives are quite sturdy, smooth, very little frosting & no cracks. Not sure how this mixture works w/ metal molds, since I'm a die-hard Dixie cup votive girl. It certainly can be done successfully & I really like this wax. Also, I use this formula for my votives & containers -- Susan.

    Susan,

I know this is a funny question, but is .40 oz of beeswax a little less than 1 TBS ? I think 2 TBS is 1 oz so half would be about 1 TBS.. and since you add .40 that is a little less.. Do you weigh this out or just use measuring spoons??? Funny question I know but am not sure about all this math stuff:confused: Also with this combo of the PSA and BW what % do you add for FO?? Is that something you can share??!!!!

    THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

  10. I may be wrong, but since I only use BW as an additive, I haven't found a difference in quality & go w/ whatever is closest & priced best. I use .40oz pp w/ my EZ Soy, but I also add PSA & UA. I've always heard 1oz pp is a good starting point to test what works for you.

    Susan.

    Susan,

I am new and am wondering what the PSA Does to your candles... Hmm I seem to like the EZ Soy.. but when I am burning I am not seeming to get the best hot throw.. I was adding vybar but am going to take that out.. and I like the RRD wicks but not sure if those are the problem as well... hmmm.. Appreciate your opinion

  11. If you have vybar sitting around - try it. I never have, but know several that swear by it. I use EZ Soy & have added BW, UA & PSA over the yrs. I currently add small amounts of all 3 together & love the results. It's just a matter of testing till you find what works best for you. I hate hearing people say 'you can't' do something. I'll try anything once!!

    Susan.

    Susan,

What is PSA??? I think the UA is the one for light, but not sure what PSA is?? I am very new.. Thanks
