I'm loving the FOH Japanese Pear & Ginsing too. BW's Vanilla Pear was nice...I soaped it and it sort of got lost. I really dig Daystar's Coconut Pear too.

Pretty soap!! Make sure you take cut pics too!
Didn't you (or someone) send Energy to Taylored Concepts to see if Robert would duplicate it? Any word on that?

ROFL...."Sex Kitty" makes me think the scent would be rather like the neon pink ultramarine. BUAHAHAHAHA
How about:
Purrrrrrrr
Sexy Lady
Seduction
Hmmm....yeah.....I guess I kinda suck at names, huh?

Mary, listen to me.....drop what you are doing. Go to Walmart. Now. Buy a cheapy stick blender. I got mine for $10 and it's still going 1 1/2 years later and about 100 batches later.....
Go.
Go now.
We'll wait.
(THAT'S what I should have put in a SB box for you!)

That much liquid, I *personally* would just toss the batch. Just my opinion though.
BTW....a mostly lard recipe makes for a very hard bar, no need to add steric at ALL. I'm not sure how much lard you are using, but since lard and castor were your only oils.....I'm assuming you've got at least 80-90% lard there. No steric needed. (says one who has never used steric in her soaps at all)
Babbling right along.....

Very pretty! She also makes fabulous afghans!
Oh, you just hush now! That ol' thing still keeping ya warm?? LOL.
BTW....I don't use a magnifying glass per se.....but I did go to Walmart and buy a pair of 3x reading glasses. I don't stitch without 'em!
-
....cross stitching. When the soaping obsession hit me a few years ago, my cross stitching got pushed to the side....sadly. Hehehe....now I've almost pushed soaping to the side! One day, I'll find a happy balance, I'm sure.
Anyway....I've been working on this one off and on for 18 months. I finally finished her yesterday. For reference, she is 12"x15".
Thanks for looking!

We had scent. How much did you use?
I used 2 1/2 oz in a 2 1/2 pound batch..or 1 ounce per pound. The scent cured away to almost nothing. :rolleyes2
I only purchased 4 oz to try....so now I don't have enough to try 1 1/2 oz per pound like Ruth did.

When I CP'd Tonic from SW...it faded away to almost ZERO scent. GRRRRRRR.
-
Very nice! I love the colors of your soap. What scent is it?
I'm just a titch envious though....LOL. There's no way I could mush HP soap into a mold like that and have the divider tops stay so pristine and clean! I'm more of a smoosh it in and trim it up later type of gal!

I've CP'd Peaks Cranberry Citrus....and it behaved wonderfully. It's my FIL's favorite soap. He cleans me out every time I make it. I didn't have any ash problems though. And time enough for a 4 color swirl.....YMMV.

If I recall correctly, I bought 48 sets and the price break was pretty good. I still have quite a few of them in a box in the garage. LOL.
FYI...I sold mine for $6.50.

I use these......Wish they had a cap though.

I vote for Tonic or Provence from SW.....but also Bonsai from OT was a great unisex seller for me. Sort of outdoorsy but not too masculine.
Just my 2 cents....
-
I've thought that too....or something to do with palm kernal oil.
-
Purdy purdy!!
No worries, Julie...I will give any orphans a happy home! Love this scent!

I don't think it's DOS either. BUT....I have had the snowflake crystaline looking stuffs before. See this link...I posted pictures of my "ugly" soap. Check out the MMS Awapui Seaberry...it's the one with these same formations you have.

I never did figure it out. And the soap, though it was a tried and true recipe had a "slickness" to it that my other soaps never had. Still worked and lathered like a mofo though!
Sorry I can't be more help...... :tiptoe:

Hmmmmm..... I wonder if the difference some of you experienced (non-drying vs. drying) would be due to cure time?
I dunno....I let mine cure for about 5 weeks before I tried the first bar, then we tried again at 3 months. I think it's just a combo of my skin (persnickity at best!) and the fact that we live in the desert with no humidity.
I do want to try a 80% coconut/20% shea/20% superfat bar though....just to play.
Hugs,
Donna

Did you superfat it? I think that's what's supposed to make this all coconut oil soap non-drying.
I sure did...100% coconut oil with 20% superfat.

Thought I might contribute something since I've learned so much from this forum....
This is DH's favorite shaving soap. I was tinkering around with stability and lather and came up with this on a whim. Turns out to be the one he likes the best. I even stood and watched him shave to make sure the lather didn't disappear on his face....and it didn't!
So...just thought I would give something back to the community.
Shaving Soap
25% Castor Oil
25% Cocoa Butter
25% Rice Bran Oil
25% Lard
1 TBSP Bentonite clay PPO at trace
Aloe Vera Juice subbed for water
Use lye calculator to determine lye/juice quantities.

I've made four batches.....it dried me and DH out horribly. No more for us!

I got a reply this morning....and my mold will ship today! YEAH! I'm holding off making swap soaps cuz I wanna use my new mold!
-
Just wondering if it's just me.....
I ordered a stock size (not custom size) log mold on 6/3. Their website says 1-2 weeks for processing. On 6/16, I emailed in the evening and got a reply almost immediately from Sandra that said: "Due to the delays of our other materials,We would like to apologize and asked for 1 more week to finished your order..Thank you for your patient..have a great evening!"
I emailed again a week later on 6/24 and haven't gotten a reply yet. I've emailed again this morning. Now, I've read all the raves about their customer service...so, it seems odd that now I'm not getting a reply.
Just wondering.....
